Seventh-Day Adventists will not volunteer that their “founder”, Ellen G White, has evoked significant controversy regarding her beloved “sayings” within that church that have caused significant dissension within its ranks.
Mormons will not volunteer the numerous allegations against their “leader” Joseph Smith.
In both cases, they eagerly present air-brushed accounts of both founders and are often simply ill-equipped to answer or deal with research calling their religions into question.
Exactly what l was asking for Steve2 . l am not saying that some faith groups don't gloss over some of the most contentious stuff . l am objecting to the assertion that EVERYONE does that , l wouldn't dream of making a statement like that because l don't know about other religions .

I think the most honest - and probably least successful - religion would be the one that says...
"...we don't know if we're right, join us or don't, whatever..."
