Hot damn wifibandit...no wonder there is next to zero adult converts from the outside community being brought to the point of baptism...this 60 minute talk is nothing but a pep talk to the rundown, depressed and discouraged pioneers. This talk is not about how to get interested ones to the meetings...it's all about hanging onto pioneers and preventing them from giving-up! This talk is another sign that WT is in survivor mode! It sounds like the vast majority of pioneers are either on medication or need to be in order to cope. I feel sorry for the janitor eider & the other unemployed elder who have to deliver this discouraging discourse. They've got to be in dire straights themselves. 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for the letter. I used to hate these meetings , both as a pioneer and as an elder. On more than one occasion it just turned into something of a bitchfest with some of the pioneers complaining about lack of support from the elders etc.

    Oh dear.

Let's not look at the thing we left behind? Thankfully i never pioneered (except for the waste of time campaigns before the conventions) but the young brothers who did pioneer all worked for a JW gardener who worked them like slaves. Im sure they'll be in this meeting evaluating how their life has panned out. 25yo, minimum wage, getting barked at by a JW elder at work, slogging that ministry bag around in all weathers while your peers are going out, having fun, meeting people and enjoying their youth.

Cant wait for this house of cards called JW.borg to collapse.

WTB&T$ just cannot let any opportunity go by without demonizing getting an education and a well paying job instead of being an illiterate, financially strapped leech on society.

Under the subheading, "Iron Sharpens Iron" lies this amusingly-worded gem

"...one friend may succeed in sharpening the intellectual and spiritual state of another."

No examples are provided on how intellectual sharpening could ever occur within the propaganda-crammed walls of the local Kingdom Hall. So, I assume this so-called "intellectual" sharpening is confined to directing one's "friend" to the biased information in JW organization's own literature and does NOT include any form whatsoever of independent or critical thinking. That's not sharpening in any sense of the verb, but more like a dulling process.

If that's the case, the subheading needs to be changed. "Rusted Iron Rusts Iron," would be far more apt.

    Good points steve2.

Sharpening usually involves subjecting the blade to friction not avoiding it at all costs.

I like one of the posible scenarios.

Pioneer sister brags about her blessed life and others make sarcastic remarks about her... lol.

Situation: A brother who has pioneered for a number of years faces financial difficulties and becomes discouraged. He begins to wonder what his life could have been if he had pursued higher education and obtained a well-paying job?

Ahhh - he would be happier and have some security and satisfaction in his life!
