"Something tells me the WTS really dodged a bullet back when the 80s witch-hunts started up."

    Been thinking about this.

Obviously, the reason the Org was able to avoid scrutiny back then was due to how disciplined the rank-and-file were... after all, it seems even Ray Franz hadn't known about how institutionalized the pedo problem had become.

However, it's also plausible that the Leadership interpreted said bullet-dodge as "evidence" that it was "The Truth" (since there was no one who was allowed to suggest otherwise)...

...which, in turn, emboldened them to further entrench the WTS's policies, rather than reform them (not to mention that the Apocalypse was due "any day now", so whatever errors made would have been viewed as inconsequential).

And as a result, we now have the current situation.

"30,000 new child abuse reports from Goddard inquiry " appalling. I hope the inquiry can reveal the % of these coming out of wt and as a % of the population compared to other groups, orgs, religions? For this would reveal a fundamental flaw a massive one in wt thinking teaching and dominance.

zeb - "...this would reveal a fundamental flaw a massive one in wt thinking teaching and dominance."

That sort of thing's already been going on for a good long while, now.

How else do you think so many of us ended up here?

not clear at this stage why she resigned but it has come the same day as this article in telegraph criticizing how much time she was spending in new zealand on other work and holiday. maybe its related. Or perhaps 10 years working away from home was too much, who knows. I liked the look of her, I had the impression she would have done a good job.

It's outrageous how many times this enquiry has stalled.

Yes I have watched from afar of the stalling of the inquiry. Perhaps the monkey on the piano has become the elephants' in the room; the damn thing is looming so big the govt (uk) are going to have to back up refuel and start again. It may be funding or some other reason.. If HM were to sign this one over as a Royal Commission then it would be a much bigger and more powerful thing happening.

The reason couldn`t be that their are more powerful , influential , people in high places of society that are involved one way or another in child sexual abuse , pornography of minors ,etc.etc. that it has become a hot potato to persevere with this inquiry could it ?

    just asking

Is there any particular reason that it has been 3 women in a row heading this inquiry?

Maybe the shot-callers keep leaving because of just how horrible they're realizing the problem is.

I certainly don't think I could handle it.
