Finkle that is a good assumption. Harvey Dent said "you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villian". If you understand me, the org probably stood for something good at one point but once they found out it was probably bullshit they got super bitter. -

they got super bitter.
They aren't bitter at all , in reality they got super rich but they realized eternally that the organization's doctrines were failing or had failed.
They knew they had a hold of a multi million dollar Publishing Conglomeration that extended all around the world but thought it was the appropriate time to down size the operations, so they started selling numerous branches around the world cashing in every time.
One must remember and keep in mind this obviously is a religion but its also a business where there are a lot of people living off the proceeds of the organization.
I guess they forgot about Google Maps when they thought it would be nice to spend money on basketball and tennis courts.

...the end of this system is so very near!
I have to give it to them, they have been masterful at surviving out of that bullshit for over a century.

Sell your property and home, move to a tiny studio apartment, and you will be spending your last 50 or 60 years pious-sneering and in lousy financial condition. Your soul will be programmed to accept that poverty is a virtue (it is, in fact, a punishment). You will find your soul degenerating to the point where joke-hova will happily make a meal out of it when you die (that is what heaven actually is--the heaven they are promised is simply going to that cube that Revelation so gleefully speaks of, so joke-hova can devour your soul).
In the meantime, you will live a life of misery. Every sort of hardship is what you are supposed to endure for joke-hova. It makes joke-hova happy when you suffer, yet serve that abomination anyways. It gives that thing more energy to harvest, both in suffering and in unfulfilled natural desires and drives, so it can use it to enslave the whole human race under harsh communism. And by communism, I mean RFID chips, not having any property at all (even your pen and paper is communal property), being packed and stacked in tiny living studios, and having to work menial jobs for 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, without ever getting time off or compensation. You want the whole world to be like that, just go ahead and sell your home and property, pious-sneer, and live miserable for joke-hova.

Imminent (? That`s already passed a thousand times)
Last days (That go on for Decades /years/ a century)
Around the corner (on a roundabout)
So very near (yet so very far)
World events mean it cant be much longer.( The majority of Nations/people have never had it so good)

the Watchtower Society build this enormous facility out in the boondocks at the expense of the all Witnesses who truly believed that the system of things was close
Interestingly, the entire current GB are the ones who were already baptized and were pioneering as average Jw's during 1975. The youngest Mark Sanderson was baptised one year later than you in 1975.

It could just be excess building materials/dirt but doesn't it kind of look like a volleyball sandpit behind one of the tennis courts?

While the Faithful and Discreet Slave keep promising that the end is near,
JW would not be impressed if angel materialized, or with any other imperical evidence. That would not add one iota to the faith they already have. What JW want and are anxiously waiting for is vindication and relief. FDS can't make that happen.
