Welcome, Sir Paul! Hope you end up enjoying this place as much as I do. It'll be nice to hear your story once you get a chance to post it!
Good to see you. I promise I won't steal ALL the girls ;O)
Just remember I called dibs on OrbitingTheSun and tinkerbell82, although I think I'm not the only one that has said this...far, far from it. (They are my fav's btw...) Plus, aren't you a taken man yourself???
I should change the state I live in....it's Illinois actually.
Bradley
well darn it ALL! now i have to cancel my surprise trip to LOUISIANA!!!! :P
Thankyou so much for the welcome! Actually, there's not too much to tell - as I did not suffer as many on here obviously must have... To put it simply - My mother was a JW who was disfellowshipped when she went off with my 'worldly' (and actually - he WAS worldy) father, and had me (out of wedlock I might add)... She did take me to some meetings early on when I was a baby (I actually remember this) ...But then otherwise, stopped... and raised me in an almost TOTALLY 'normal' enviroment (along with my Grandmother) complete with Birthdays, Holidays, and so on... Though, I was aware of JW teachings.. even back then, as I read a few of her old books.
However, back in my late teens to my early twenties, (I'm 30 now) I ended up attending 2 congregations with my mother... the first early on for a period of about a year or so, and then we both kinda fell out of it... and the second, right after my Grandmother died - and I went again with my mother, who was griefstricken, to another one.. where we ended up developing some close friendships and ended up attending for a period of over 4 years...
In that period, amazingly enough.... I never allowed for a personal bookstudy (A group one - But not a personal), and I was never baptized (nor did I ever plan on it) yet, I was well liked... and managed to stay put 'as is' for that whole period...attending meetings and so on... (though I guess you could say - I managed to keep a 'worldly' side to me... due to my background growing up)
Finally, as to be expected... things came to a head on several issues... and both my mother and I had a falling out with our former 'friends'... I finally left for good JUST BEFORE the 1914 thingie came to a ruinous end in October of 95.
During the whole time that I was among Witnesses, and MOST especially towards the end... I began to see the 'darker' side to the religion.. and saw and experienced firsthand a lot of strange and disturbing behavior.... some of it - Very disturbing. (Spurts of Hatred even in young children.. 'Cult talk' messages hidden in the talks... distrust of independant thought... attempts to control and change me... etc. etc.) I need not share all the details - as I'm sure you ALL know what I'm talking about.
After I made the decision to leave, admittedly even I (a half-wordly guy) had some serious misgivings about my descision to completely break away, even though I KNEW the people were crap (under the control that is) ... Soon after I read the books 'Visions of Glory' by Barbara G Harrison (now on the net) and 'Blood On the Altar' by David Reed... both of which, helped me a great deal to learn the whole history, put some understanding of the behavior I 'Witnessed'... & cured me of any last remaining bits of indoctrination
So in a sense... I have never been a real JW. Though I did once believe it to be my religion. But more like one who has observed them pretty well. I was calling myself a 'former Watchtower Obsever' even before I saw the title on the net.. that was funny.
And there you go... hope I didn't bore you too much!
That was honorable and brave of you to confide in your wife like that (Though I do believe open conversation and honesty are the most important thing in a good relationship!)
Sir I tip my hat to you!
SSSsshhh!!!...
This is supposed to be my fun little secret 'flirty board' away from the missus dontcha know!
And Hey! This is really SUPPOSED to be a nice place to share deep, spiritual, pondering thoughts with other fellow human beings of intellect! - NOT a 'Marketplace!!' .... (Oh? gosh!! - Did I just happen to cross my fingers there? {Wink Wink} LOL)
But what the Hay! - I'll indulge ya just once...
Tink is absolutely adorable of course, and a real sweetheart... who'd make even a blind man 'See the Light!' - no denying that. And I also saw the profile of your 'SunOrbiting' and between the pretty thoughtful, deep Bio, and the hot piccie... I can see why you'd like to be in her Orbit! LOL
Ah yes.. the duskyhaired sensualness of Orbit, and the Golden Brilliance of Tink that just lights up the room... they're like the moon and sun themselves... bringing light to our lonely sky...
However if SunOrbit and Tink are the Sun and Moon... I think there definitely should be a VERY honorable mention going out to Xena.. the Volumptuous Mother Earth...
Xena dear, I saw that picie of you fresh from the shower... and I must say my reaction:
"OMG - Now THEEEEeeeere's a WOMAN!!!"
No offense meant by this Xe - just that you were (sigh)... appreciated!
Welcome Sir Paul,
Might I say what a refreshing intellect of a poster you are. Welcome indeed.

Hmmm {Sir Paul suddenly notices that 'Sir Elton' is actually being shown on a TV screen, and that he's wearing what appears to be a black and white striped shirt
Actually, it's a scan from the inside cover of the album Rock Of The Westies, released in 1975. Unlike most jws, Sir Elton (of course then not yet a Sir) was not awaiting Armageddon and did not sell off his belongings in order to pioneer.
Sir Paul,
Mmmmm....yes....Sun and Tinkly Moon....nice. Good analogy. Check out Vivamus and Prisca's profile for some other nice phenotypes. Oh, and I don't even have to mention Azzy. I've never seen her pic, but I hear Ravyn isn't hard to look at either. I told you THIS IS THE SPOT.
hehe,
Bradley
