So what would "Perfect Life" REALLY be like?

If Adam and Even had been real and the Eden story actual history...

...and it had gone down differently...

...humanity would have gone a different way.

(as in, we all personally wouldn't exist, 'cause "cause-and-effect", "butterfly-ripple", and all that... )

I actually mentioned that in a conversation with a group of JWs once, and got some real freaked-out looks.

Everyone had seen Back to the Future, so they knew what I was talking about...

...but clearly hadn't taken that aspect into consideration. :smirk:

After that, I started to suspect that a lot of loyal JWs might resent "Adam and Eve" because - having not fully thought it through - figured that if not for the "Fall", they themselves might be "perfect".

    Worshiping Jehovah 24 X 7.

Due to boredom, I would have rebelled and killed instantly.

I heard a good quote today that said "for something to be truly valuable, it MUST be a limited item"

Think of gold. If we could pick it up off the ground everywhere, it would no longer be precious or valuable.

Same too with life. It is precious, BECAUSE it is finite. It ends, so we know we need to enjoy it while we live.

If endless perfect life was here, it would therefore no longer be precious or of value.

    I remember this thread.

I can add to what I posted before...

...when I was growing up a JW, I'd imagined "perfection" as a) being extremely attractive, and b) never wrong...

...mostly because I felt unattractive (for various reasons), and absolutely hated being wrong (because it felt so embarrassing).

Imagine my dismay when it was explained to me that the term meant spiritual "perfection".

Of course, none of them had ever been on a horse.

Or had to clean up behind it! Sounds like their paradise would be pretty shitty!

@stuckinarut2 Ah, the good ol' rule of scarcity.

When I was 15, I told my father that we're meant to die - it's what makes anything about us matter. I still believe this.

Being perfect would mean your poop would not smell.

Being perfect would mean I'd be able to play face-melting guitar solos.

Since this is just mind candy and speculation, I would like to play devil’s advocate.

If there were never any original sin, why would we assume that the human race would not industrialize?

In other words, why wouldn’t we have cars or toilette paper?
