It is important that circuit overseers avoid being extravagant or giving the appearance of wanting the best of everything in the way of food, clothing, apartment furnishings, the latest electronic devices, vacations, and so forth. In this way they will avoid “any cause for stumbling”

That will just be available to "higher ups" in Bethel , then....

if a brother is so extremely overweight that others would be distracted if he had a part on the program, good judgment would need to be used in deciding whether to give him an assignment

Can that Overweight brother go for Field Service ? I am sure he has to.

    extremely overweight

Those paedophile protecting, gluttonous pigs, the GovBod, had to preface it with 'extremely' because they look like they've been eating all the pies.

Brothers recommended to serve as substitute circuit overseers must not have viewed pornography within the last two years.

Why two years? And wouldn't it matter what kind of pornography and how frequently he viewed it?

    So many arbitrary rules.

not viewed porn for 2 years--yet the bro is an elder? i would have thought it should be "never viewed porn since being appointed an elder "

    what a stupid rule.

Damn, no wonder fewer and fewer "qualified brothers" are "reaching out"...

...just trying to stay on top of all the (constantly shifting) rules and regs alone must be exhausting.

And all just to keep a bunch of poorly-educated nitwits from screwing the pooch and getting the Org in trouble.

The C.O.'s wife always used to operate the slide projector usually because she had seen the whole thing week after week.

Give it to an alert brother who since it is his first time will probably make a mess of it. I mean the ones in my old KH couldn't work the video machines and even had trouble selecting the right songs to start the meeting. UNLESS they were sabotaging the meetings I hadn't thought of that before!

The Organization is constantly observing and taking note of the men left in the congregation. Pickings must be slim to pick who is the best, second best etc.

    @ minimus...

I remember a story told here about a local elder body who'd visited an actual disfellowshipped guy to "encourage" him to pursue reinstatement, implying that they could fast-track him towards MS status and even eldership as an incentive.

I can't remember who posted it (or how long ago), but it really stuck with me, because it was the first time I'd ever read anything about any kind of grassroots staffing shortage.

    NEAT BLUE DOG:

So many rules! Some I can understand (like passing off fictitious stories as real experiences).

The rest show their many issues about women it’s almost comical:.. ‘Not speaking for her husband..and don’t dominate the conversation’.🙄 Of course that would make him look like a henpecked moron with a smarter wife. Can’t have that.

The one about ‘don’t make it look as though they want the best of everything..so as to avoid stumbling..’ is certainly true. I did see this and also how they expected everybody to be mindful of their likes and dislikes and food allergies...Oh I wasn’t STUMBLED, I got the RIGHT impression! They expected the best and the r&f were supposed to feel privileged to provide it..I can’t imagine anybody wanting to give them ANYTHING or put them up.

They could go to hell and eat at a fast food place for all I cared.
