((((Elsewhere)))) I'm sorry you didn't get the job. Hopefully you'll find something even better.

Lots of the tech support jobs are going to India. Now you tell me. How smart is it to have your tech support done in India where you've got about a 10% chance of understanding the first damn thing that comes out of their mouths? Most are based in Bangalore, the tech center of India. And in India, Ph.D. E.E.s make about $5,000.00, whereas in the states a Ph.D. engineeer STARTS at about $65,000.00?
I don't know what's going to be left in this country after awhile, the dregs of the job market I guess. Do you have Comcast for your cable TV and high speed modem? That person you talk to in tech support is in Ottawa, Canada, some are in New Foundland. They're damn sure not here.
Perhaps we should have a national assembly that would recognize its duty as service to individual Americans like you and I and would pass laws to keep companies from shipping their jobs overseas. We could call it something catchy like Congress. It would have a lower house and an upper house and it would be for REPRESENTING US, OUR WAY OF LIVE, AND THE MEANS OF MAINTAINING THAT LIFE. It's a good idea, but it would never happen. Let's hear it for Bill Clinton and NAFTA.

Well dangitallanyway ((Else))((Lee))
Who ever woulda thought that over-qualification would be a hindrance? I've been in construction management for 10 years, sans a degree. Now there are licensed professional engineers and registered architects vying for CM positions, at 1/2 to 1/3 of what they'd make in their chosen field.
So, for this year, it's been back to swinging the hammer for me.
Good luck to ya both!
Craig
Hang in there Elsewhere and Lady Lee gives you both a hug.

Well maybe this is an idea. Well if it is really a problem – I mean a need – Go Living in India /or/ Work at Home to translating what they are saying … by the way INDIANS ALSO GOT THE RIGHT TO WORK ! (LOGICAL)
François :WELL – IT’S TIME TO think about a new for of economy … NO ? IT’S A JOB! (LOGICAL)
I don't know what's going to be left in this country after awhile

IF ONE DAY SOMEONE COMING TO YOU SAYING SOMETHING LOGICAL LIKE :
LOGICAL = INSURANCE (in the right or the wrong way) Make your choices and be an actor or a follower either way
Don't get me wrong here : It's not arrogance ... IT'S ONLY LOGICAL
And I feel very concerned on this matter ... (It's good to cry, but it good to wake up an be logical in the right way as possible, of course)
Elsewhere, I'm so sorry to hear this...You too, Lady Lee....big business is hurting the American public with shipping jobs overseas...wonder how many will continue to buy their products.....My son-in-law started his own business, designing programs for businesses and my daughter is doing tutoring for the employees....it's either feast or famine for them, too....

The job market is shot here also in NC. Textiles used to be the biggest industry in our small town, but now they are all going out of business. Do any of you remember Fieldcrest Mills or Cannon? They are out of business now. The cheap textiles from other countries have ruined their sales. These other products are not half as good either. China is taking over a lot of products here too. I guess the world economy will bring down the american standard of living to match the third world countries.

Else'...any reason why you couldn't have negotiated to work for less than the other candidate was willing to work for?
After all, the more qualified candidate would most likely have a lot more to lose than you. And if the jobs are going to 'India' anyway, what more would you have to lose?
