20 Another area for showing mercy opens when an expelled one is reinstated. Jesus’ illustrations highlight the joy in heaven when ‘one sinner repents.’ (Luke 15:7, 10) Paul wrote to the Corinthians regarding the man that had been disfellowshipped: "You should kindly forgive and comfort him, that somehow such a man may not be swallowed up by his being overly sad. Therefore I exhort you to confirm your love for him." (2 Corinthians 2:7, 8) Let us apply that advice soberly and lovingly in the days and weeks after a person is reinstated.
So in what universe does this "mercy" take place? My dad didn't see any of that. Yet another example of white-washed graves -- they SOUND good but reality is something quite different.

Well, looking out for my postings? :) The only problem is that my English is Belgian English (read: poor English). My reading skills are phantastic ;) the rest is "under construction" ;)

So if there is joy in heaven we can not have joy on earth can we --under no coircumstances must the brothers clap when the reinstatemnet is announced in the hall -- that would be showing joy wouldn't it
My fellow posters- sorry to be sarcastic, but it really pisses me off how the WTBTS is so unscriptural with its reinsatement process
I'm sorry but I tried to real that elder crap and I didn't get very far. Reading a math text book is more interesting.
This explains a visit that I had around this time of year, 2 years ago. I was encouraged to go to the Sunday meeting. I told the elder that I'd see how things go. Of course I didn't go.
So what you're saying Caspian, I should be expecting a visit?

I agree
The last time I had an elder visit (about the only one in the last ten years, and I'm not even DFd or DAd, just inactive) was about the time the UN fiasco was being revealed.
The elder visiting me laughed and said there was no way the Society would ever become an NGO of the UN. I calmly assured him that they had but he kept insisting that it was impossible. There could be no possible reason for the society to become connected in any way with the UN beast.
It was funny when I saw him in the street a few days later. He had obviously had an update because he went as white as a sheet when he saw me and virtually hid behind a tree. He sent a message later in the week to say that actually the Society had a very good reason for joining the UN (beast) - they needed a library card.
Yeah, right.
Needless to say I haven't seen an elder since, much to my annoyance now I'm getting more adept at snipping their metaphorical underwear elastic.
And a warm welcome to Prins Vaillant, wherever you are from!
Oh yeah,
I remember this. I've had a visit every year. The first time, I was actually TRYING to get back in, and couldn't do it, but their visit seemed very encouraging.
The second time, I was polite, and listened, but the guy was trying to scare me with 9/11 and Armageddon. Sheesh. I don't do anything out of fear anymore. Guilt, sure, but not fear.

After reading this sickening letter, I am so glad that I'm no longer an elder. The Society tries to make it sound as if they really care about people and then they use twisted reasoning to stat away from them or restrictedly see them. They suck.
