Could be your parents, a close friend, brother/sister, family member or whoever ..........

What do they really want from their life ???

    paradise earth ?

    living forever ?

    position ?

    power ?

the idea that they're right and everyone else is wrong ?

    perfect children ?

what keeps them going and striving to do more, deep down in their heart, what do they want from their life ???

Why is serving Jehovah (watchtower) the only thing in their life ? is their life that boring, or are they really that afraid to live.

I know too many questions ....

    any thoughts or experiences .........

    IMHO,

    paradise earth ?

    living forever ?

In almost every WT study article, these 2 themes are mentioned as motivators. It is what has been the main study books featured to Bible students since 1968

Truth that Leads to Eternal Life

You Can Live Forever on a Paradise Earth

Knowledge that Leads to Everlasting Life

What keeps them going is the organization constantly beating them over the head telling them to "do more".

What they want from life? For Armageddon to come and take away all the problems that Satan is bringing upon them (even though the source of their problems is, not Satan, but their own organization - and even though they aren't very sure they will survive Armageddon anyway).

I think they want an effective way to deny reality. The reality of the need for a quality secular education, the need for financial security, the need of healthy friendships, the need of proper medical treatment, the need to plan for ill health and retirement, the need to prepare wills and trusts and to prepare for death. The Watch Tower Corporation is a multi-level denial system. GaryB

They have a strong need for approval and to belong, which motivates them to keep following that "carrot"....no matter how much S&M is involved.

My honey says he lives for death, because that is what the society tells him he should hope for. I am with Frannie. And as long as the WTS holds back on total approval, they keep going, going, going like the energizer bunny, in faint hope that approval will arrive someday.

Personally, I think they want an easy way out to life: they want a life devoid of ambiguity and tough decisions. They want to believe in a single panacea for all problems in life. The are afraid to make decisions because they fear failure. Their philosopy is that all they need to do is preach, preach, preach, about a future world in which everything will be taken care of by Jehovah: they just wait on him and he'll take care of them. The WTS rules and regs that clearly spell out what to think about everything from religious ideology to cell phones fills the need of people who want to be told what to do.

A "true" JW would want to submerge their wants and substitute the needs of God's organization, in a spirit of love, giving, and compassion, and with a suspension of any doubt, scepticism, or critical analysis.

Most of what they have is actually people with a desperate need for acceptance, a massive fear of rejection and of being alone, and a tremendous doubt that they are valuable, loveable, or wonderful in and of themselves.
