I'm trying to set Blessed up with my first post. If he/she bites and tries to answer any of the questions that I posed, they will be in for a real shock. Please, no one give away the hidden answers yet, let him/her try to reason them out. It will be interesting to see how they answer.

I've posted!!!!
why am I so excited about this?
Because it's an easy excuse to bump this thread. C'mon folks, it's time to reach the laypeople! (which technically, I am, I guess!)

You guys might be reading a little to much into the phrase:
The parents often have been Jehovah's Witnesses,
In some cases, medical treatment has been denied by others, such as Christian Scientists. They forbid many things. It is also possible that there may be some independent crackpot out there who does not accept blood, but as the paper says, the parents are often JWs.
Hey, they pretty much own this particular piece of stupidity.
