    3) Having too old of a car in 1986. Had a 64 Chevy Impala

    4) Not wear a belt

    5) Working for a security guard service, my wife was sent to a casino to stand by the entery and keep a headcount for tax reasons

Having to wear nylons outside during the summer in field service (I continued not to wear them).

I was told that I shouldn't ride skateboards because I could injure myself and this could get in the way of my field service. The elder telling me this also pointed out that the graphics on the bottom of my board looked demonic.

One time I was counseled to be careful about visiting a sister who had just lost her husband in an auto accident. She had four small children. The elder's concern was that she was "emotionally labile." I said, "GOOD! I'd think something was wrong if she weren't."

Another time I was counseled by an elder for not buying a sewing machine from his daughter who worked at Sears where I made the purchase. I told him that she wasn't there when I went to make the purchase. I wish I'd thought to admonish him that he should pass out her work schedule so anyone who wants to purchase the type of appliance she sells could take advantage of it.

That my son shouldn't wear necklaces because one time there was an Awake! article about a brother that was being mugged who told the muggers that he didn't wear any jewelry because he was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I am proud to say that I thought this was ridiculous reasoning and continued to allow him to wear his necklaces.

my kids when they were young (maybe 4 and 6) had to be on a lot of medication during the winter for asthma and it made them really thirsty. So I would bring a sippy cup with a lid on it to the meetings so they could sip water during the meetings. And an elder approached me about it and said that there was no drinking allowed in the front of the KH that the kids should drink in the back at the cooler. When I protested saying I would then have to stand there all meeting practically and miss out on the meetings (yes, it was when I was still young and dumb) he then said that there is a rule that sippy cups were not allowed in the hall because the kids would think they were at home instead on in Jehovah's house. (I kid you not).

So every time after that when my kids were sick - I missed the meeting totally! Lilly

    Counselled for these 3 things:

Talking in 'code' with my best friend when out at a JW social gathering..we were only 16 for god's sake. We'd say things like 'oesn'tday ******* ooklay upidstay (doesn't 'insert name' look stupid). Had to meet with 2 elders who told us our behaviour was worldly and upsetting to other bros and sis who were out with us!!

Told off for wearing dangly earrings, similar to the sort of earrings worn by prostitutes apparently!!

Wearing a skirt with a split in it (even though you still couldn't see above my knees). Wearing a knee length skirt which 'shock, horror' revealed an inch of knee when I sat down. Now don't go getting too excited..

Wearing a wrap round top which I kept pulling up to make sure no cleavage was revealed. An elder approached me and said 'doesn't that tell you something sister'....er yeah, that you're spending way too much time looking at my tits?

    Oh the memories!!!!!

An elder told me one day what they discussed at the elders meeting...for 1 hour they discussed whether Brother Young Mike Holder's sideburns were too long. They finally decided that they would tell him that they were 1/2 inch too long and that he had to get them cut before he could handle mikes...!!!!!!!!!!!!

All the while there was a sister with an alcoholic MS husband who had gotten his 3rd DWI, a poor older sister whose non-JW family were not willing to help her get to the doctor and she was taking a cab (expensive) that were tabled for the next meeting.
