I was saddened to hear the news of the death of Johnny Cash, in his early 70's.

I was never a real fan of country music, but Johnny was different , the only artist of the genre that I rated

    So long ,Johnny Cash.

I will miss johnny cash as well , he was one of the few country musicians that I appreciated . I like the old school country better than the new country myself . Willie Nelson and Hank Williams sr. are some other I can dig .

johnny cash, the man in black. The man who sang for the hungry and those living in the hopeless side of town. God bless him and i guess he just could not live without June. He crossed over from country to pop and will be remembered as the "man in black". Champion of the underdog.

    rest in peace johnny

I was just talking about him at work last night.

He and John Ritter, what a surprise!

Anyways, they've both contributed a great deal in their respective professions.

May he find peace. He was so unhappy these last few years. With the loss of his wife and his illness....he suffers no more! I respect him and feel the loss! Maverick

Oooh, what a sad thing on vacation. But he had been ill for so long and had lost his lovely June. I was glad that he was honored before he left us.

    I Walk the Line
    Johnny Cash

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine,
I keep my eyes wide open all the time,
I keep the ends out for the ties that bind,
Because you're mine, I walk the line.

His wife just died here about 4 months ago.... I feel sorry for him. His latest album blew me away, doing the cover for Nine Inch Nails "Hurt". It was like he was reliving his life one last time for everyone, saying goodbye.

Goodbye Johnny wherever you are. I am sad to see you go.

It's hard to believe that he is gone.

For me, the 'man in black' has always been someone I looked up to. He was never ashamed of who he was, or what he did. He was just "hi, I'm johnny cash", no b-s, no spin doctors, just a REAL person.

    bye, johnny ...

... and don't forget the classic,

"in the garbage disposal of your dreams, I've been ground up dear,

I've been flushed from the bathroom of your heart." :)

    My favourite Johnny Cash song:

    Sunday Morning Coming Down

    by Johnny Cash

    Album
    : Sings His 20 Best

Well, I woke up Sunday morning With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt. And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, So I had one more for dessert. Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes And found my cleanest dirty shirt. Then I washed my face and combed my hair And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day. I'd smoked my mind the night before With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking. But I lit my first and watched a small kid Playing with a can that he was kicking. Then I walked across the street And caught the Sunday smell of someone frying chicken. And Lord, it took me back to something that I'd lost Somewhere, somehow along the way. On a Sunday morning sidewalk, I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned. 'Cause there's something in a Sunday That makes a body feel alone. And there's nothing short a' dying That's half as lonesome as the sound Of the sleeping city sidewalk And Sunday morning coming down. In the park I saw a daddy With a laughing little girl that he was swinging. And I stopped beside a Sunday school And listened to the songs they were singing. Then I headed down the street, And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing, And it echoed through the canyon Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.
