    Hi happy

If you PM your address I'm sure lots of males on the board would be willing to drop by and study you...I mean study with you Hide the voo-doo doll in the closet though..it's a real mood breaker

Are you serious about wanting to find a JW congregation....please tell me your fibbin. They might not teach Hell fire but they do teach men, women and children will destroyed indiscrimently when a Great Tribulation they hope and pray for destroys everyone who is not a JW.

Stay away from the congregations if you want to keep your happythoughts.

The only thoughts you'll receive there are conditional love and destruction of all non-JW's.

I don't blame you -- I'm curious about going to a Greek Orthodox service because my grandfather was a priest but since I was raised a JW I've never seen one.

You'll be disappointed, I think, if you go to a meeting. They're quiet, reallllllllllyyyyy boring, and you have to be quick to look up all the Scriptures they throw at you. Everyone will be dressed modestly, even dowdily, and they will show you lots of attention and try to get you to agree to a Bible study. As you attend more and more meetings, you may be included in some social activities outside the congregation, but unless you fall in with a clique you will start to find that all you'll get is a perfunctory "hi, how are you" when you come in, and that's about it for socializing. You will be pressured to "progress toward baptism" and, if you get baptized, you will then be eligible -- if you do something naughty like have sex outside of marriage or smoke -- to be disfellowshipped, or shunned, which means that the people who said "hi, how are you" will now treat you like you're invisible. Then you are expected to grovel, act like you're covered in horse manure, sit in the back, and not talk to anyone until the elders deem you sufficiently "repentant" to be allowed back into the warm bosom of the congregation, at which point the "hi, how are you" people may still consider you bad assocation and not talk to you anyway.

As for the teachings, I think some of them are true -- I don't believe in hellfire or the Trinity and I think God is a God of love, whether His name is Jehovah or Jesus. I'm just not sweating the small stuff anymore, and feel that part of my faith is believing that God will look kindly on me because he knows I'm doing my best and that's good enough for Him.

    Keep us posted!

    Nina:

Sure sounds like an interesting place to visit. Of course they probably would not ask me to come back, especially if I step out for a smoke break. Perhaps even after I tell them I will only live with men not marry them. I have no problems being honest, too bad religion isn't that way.

I have this friend who is a JW... he's going thru a divorce right now

Well, this is how you do it. Mail your request to the appropriate office below. A pair of Jehovah's Witnesses will kindly show up at your door and offer you a free bible study. They will want to schedule weekly visits for some time, so practice your *yawns* now. Take note that they will start by pointing out all the errors in the other churches. I suggest you ask them a for a description of what they DO believe (not just what they don't believe).

By the way happythoughts, I guess right now you want to rush and tell your friend about all the truths you've stumbled upon, but I warn you in advance that all JWs are constantly warned over and over again about the so called "dangers" of the internet and are basically not allowed to look at open-minded material on it.

    Forewarned is forearmed.

    peace to you!

Please know that there is no "where" to go away to. There is only a "whom"... the Son of God. He is God's one "leader"... and Fine Shepherd... and it is by means of him that all can know God.

    I bid you peace!

P.S. As for a congregation or church... there is none...at least, not as far as a "religion" goes. There is, though, the church or congregation... "of the Firstborn". But God does not dwell in handmade temples... but in a "temple" made by Christ (1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 2:19-21)... so you won't find Him in some institutionalized mode of worship.

All YOU need do is ask God... sincerely and from a clean heart to lead you to Christ... His Shepherd... and afterward, Christ... will lead you... along with ALL of his sheep... to God. And a "clean" heart means removing ANY hatred and/or hypocrisy that's there BEFORE you approach and ask. How do you do that? If you have something against someone... anyone... let... it... go! Completely. You will not be heard otherwise... for you will not be "clean" in your asking.)

Afterward, if you do decide to ask... when he comes to you (and he will come to you), it will require faith on your part to hear him... and then step up and say, "Here I am!" and receive him. Not that you won't hear him; you will. Whether you believe it is him or not... is another story. Many, thinking that they can and will do this when he comes to them... actually do one of two things: lack faith so as not to believe it... or, as Adam did... hide. The choice, though... is yours.

Remember, though, he is a SPIRIT... so that it will not be flesh and blood that will come to you... IF you indeed ask him to come at all. If you are looking for someone to appear in the flesh... you will be waiting for all eternity. God... and Christ... are spirits... and thus, it is with YOUR spirit... and truth... that you must worship [Him].

    Again, I bid you peace!

    A slave of Christ,

    SJ
