hot for you in what regard? in any regard i think that the answer is no......
sorry, is your heart breaking now?
Sentinel, i am sorry that your Mom's health is bad. I think it's great though that today there are options for witnesses. Infact, storing her own blood when she knows when her surgery is coming is a good idea. 20 years ago my Mom was supposed to have heart surgery, but she put it off because at the time there weren't any promises, and her recoup time was a year. Today the surgeons are in there fixing stuff and out thanks to computer chips, lasers, and itty bitty cameras.
Also, find out , ( if you can) more of what the doctor recommended. My caps off to ya'. Panda
Hi Sentinel:
Good to hear from you again.
I also am now an organ donor since leaving the JW's. It feels really good knowing that, in the event of my death, others can have the chance for life. I have yet to donate blood, but it is now on my "to do" list.
So sorry that your Mom shuns you...these circumstances always break my heart. Life is so short to shun those we love. I hope that everything works out for her. Take care.
Mrs. Shakita
Gosh, everyone, I personally feel good that I posted this subject and have gotten such a response.
Elsewhere, you are somethin else in my book!! Just reading about DJ's experience warms my heart.
Melissa, Panda, and Shakita, it is a good and loving thing to do, and I hope more friends on here will rise to the ocassion. My mom called me last night, which was a welcomed surprise under the circumstances. I was bold and brought up the blood issue with her, and found that she is aware and knows all about the blood extenders and "components" and says she will use whatever she "can" in good conscience. This time she didn't chastise me for speaking to her about the issue. She has so many tests to be done now, on other related health issues that have come to light. .....Our life is so prescious.
With "Isabel" coming up my driveway, so to speak, I know that my donation was at a good time. Your's too, Elsewhere!! The Blood Banks are low, so we should all think about doing whatever we can. There is always a need, but expecially in national dissasters.

i hope that your mom gets what she needs done. but now you don't have to sit there if something were to happen and wonder if things could be different if you would have said something. and that wondering can sometimes be the most painful thing. so i'm glad you spoke up and brought up what needed to be brought up. it's hard but i'm proud of you
melissa
i think that in order to hold life as sacred everything must be done in order to protect that life.
Good point! I have never donated blood before but I am definetly making plans on doing so now. Sentinel, I hope everything goes well with your mom, you are in my thoughts and well wishes.

Thanks everyone!
Your responsiveness and encouragement mean a great deal to me.
See you around here sometime again.
Take Care!
Well, I just got a peircing, so I want to wait a little just in case, although it is probably fine. I do not lead a healthy life (not secually, or drug-wise) so I want to be healthy and then donate. If someone can tell me that being a bit unfit does not affect my donating blood, then I will donate this weekend and convince my S/O to come with me. It is an important thing to do!
You know, even many years after I left the Borg., I would not consider donating blood or ever receiving it.
NOW?
Different story. Boy oh boy, time and space away from the Borg has changed my opinion and thoughts on blood.
If and when you can, and you do have a desire to donate: do it.
Everytime I have either read/heard stories about exJWs donating blood: they feel liberated, happy and proud.
Sounds like a positive gesture.
