Funchback, That article will probably be passed over quickly. I mean isn't part of being a dub NOT HAVING TO MAKE YOU OWN DECISIONS? Having everything written in stone by the GB makes life simple (if you don't want to use that highly evolved brain). I get angry at myself for listening.

Anyway I do appreciate your pointing out the WTS-speak. How is it so obvious now and wasn't before?

First, they quote Napoleon Bonaparte: "Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious than to be able to decide." Then, the WT says:
You may agree on both counts, since people generally treasure being in control of their own lives.

If the WTS trully believes their OWN words, then there is nothing wrong with taking control of your OWN life. In other words, perhaps now is the time for you to determine WHO is really controlling your life: Is it you? Or, is the the 'faithful and discrete' slave?

aaannnnnnd....the frosting on this "cake" is that "SELF-control" is a gift of the Holy Spirit....it's an ambiguous statement....could mean having the ability to control one's own self (ie: life) without interference from others.....a gift that the WTS does NOT give to their members.....so....begs the question.....Which spirit is "channeling" through the WTS?

Many times I feel regret over studying with many people some of them are Witness's right now. And many of them said I will not be one because your telling me the end of the world is coming in 1975. I remember this one man and his family I studied with, a smart man though I taught him how to read in the process of studying with him. He asked me "do you really believe the end is coming in 1975 like it says in your magazine? I told him I don't know. He said "well if you don't fully believe it will come then why should I". He had me there, that man died a few years latter, so the end of this plain of life ended for him I deceived him and his family with the rubbish in the Awake magazine of 1974 and I feel stupid for it.

Panda... I suppose it really does make your life easier when a group of (12) men make nearly all of your decisions for you. I guess it doesn't take much thinking to be a Dub, eh?

I wholly agree.

I feel like I could write these articles myself after reading just the title of the article. The WTS starts with a nobel idea, then inserts one of their key 'DOUBLETHINK', 'NEWSPEAK' words into the paragraph, and the rest of the article is then a clear path to it's inevitable conclusion:

get baptised NOW, study NOW, give NOW, do field service MORE, read MORE, answer MORE, prepare MORE.

Funchback, thx for the highlights. Saves me the bore of having to go through it myself. It is too bad that a R&F JW would never see this article in this light because of the veil of fear that the WTS pulls over the R&F's eyes by hanging the 'Big A' over their heads.

Don't beat yourself up over it. Unfortunately, like all of us, you were doing what you thought was right. Besides, like the article aboves mentions, the people you "deceived" are responsible for their own actions.
