I think this topic probably lit a small fire under me. I was grousing about all the time my JW friend spends on meetings, et al, and thinking how much good could be done in that time and had the sudden thought--well, why don't you see what you could do in that time. I've been pretty much a slug for years and getting worse, so this might not look like much, but so far, for this week, I: went to the volunteer meeting for the United Way to find out about opportunities for volunteering, attended my community organization meeting which I haven't gone to in probably 3 years, gave blood and Saturday, I'm having a group of friends for lunch. (Years ago, a friend told me my parties were my ministry, so I figured I could count that.) I'm really getting into the idea of converting JW time into community time. Even though I've never been a JW! So, thanks!

good for you! It's a lot harder to b*tch all the time when you're busy doing productive things, huh? Makes life a lot happier, at least for moi.

I swim and Scuba dive (used to teach it) and just started a "Tai Chi" class, last night (I've been wanting to do it for years, even as a JW).
I play the fiddle (violin) and am currently teaching myself guitar.
I do some religious stuff, and hang with friends.
Oh, and I read a fair bit.
Lots and lots of sex.
Great topic - For $ I coordinate events for the military. This is about 40+ hours. I have a little one who's almost 2 years old and she just keeps me going...and going....Weekends we try to get to as many free concerts, programs as possible and I am a netflix junkie. Our current favorite past time is feeding the pigons in the park while Rachael runs around. I love to travel, listen to music spend time with my family and friends and enjoy 'Being'.
I noticed no one said they are TV holics so I would like to ask a question. As this board has a high proportion of US posters I would like to know:
1. Firstly are TV couched potatoes low across this board membership as I guess it is?
2. Has the internet taken up time that may have otherwise been spent watching TV?
3. Is TV viewing less in the US due to the content quality (e.g. as compared to British channels with no adverts)?
My hobbies? Bird Watching...stamp collecting...masturbation...and reading.
I spend most of my time online, don't watch tv except for football. Since I moved to OH three months ago the majority of my time is spent looking for work (and wishing I was back in Seattle!). I mostly just read about politics and news online, but since I came on this board about a month ago, it has begun taking up more time than politics!!! Hopefully in the near future (read:when I'm employed) I'll get back to my old hobby of painting. Canvass and paints are hard to come by with no $$$!!!!!
