There are a few active JWs I know (separate, in different areas) who basically celebrate New Years, having a party to watch the ball drop, posting about it on social media, one even saying literally "Happy New Year" . . . But most other JWs seem to not want to point out the elephant in the room. Has anybody else seen this, or ever seen it turn judicial? Or is it overlooked like birthdays are with some?

New Years is a no no for my jw, a real shame too because we used to go out or to parties for it.

I sent my mother i law a happy new years fireworks gif in a text this morning. She responded with a question about dinner, not returning the happy new years, but she did immediately respond. She also gives a lot of presents the day or so after Christmas and accepts them from us.

Neat blue dog, do you know about the background of these people who celebrate New Years, are they Elders or the family of Elders, or just regular publishers?

I used to celebrate it with other young ones who were married with their own place. Didn't broadcast it on social media though. Sometimes it's disguised as just a party which just-so-happens to be on new years eve.

Just regular publishers. Regular service and commenters though 😜

Hahaha, there we go, maybe the Elders will turn a blind eye for them right? Always works like that in this world.

I know some Bethelites that would go to Times Square in NYC to watch the ball drop.
I never heard anyone making an issue of it.
