Future solution - more, maybe some day all, meetings to be attended at home, through jw-org site.
The only problem to this is finding a way to legally charge for access to the meetings.

They will never stop having Meetings or gatherings.
The Group-Think is too valuable to reinforce the believers.
Gathering in a group with others is the KEY way to make people feel accepted and part of something. It is the best way to reinforce behaviour and quell any doubts or questioning. Just seeing your "friends" all doing the same thing, and "learning" the same thing will ensure no-one wants to break ranks.
I doubt they will ever phase out meetings in some form or another.
Never say never.
They reduced the weekly meetings from 5 to 3 and significantly cut meeting times. Who'd have ever thought the Public talk would be reduced to half-an-hour?
I think people can get the same psychological hit/feelgood fix from an internet "community" as you can from real world face time.
Thing is most witnesses I knew looked for excuses to miss meetings.
The letter says the video will explain the reasons behind the recent changes. I wonder how open they will be this time.
They don't really explain why they need to sell Kingdom Halls other than this 'equalising'. It may be that a number of JWs are seeing this as a reason why they don't need to donate as much since the organisation has done all the research and is getting money from the sale of Kingdom Halls as well as the surplus funds that were in the congregations accounts.
If I was a still in, bored out of my brain social witness I know what would be a win-win plan. Here goes ...
ONE yes ONE meeting per week. That way you can have seven to ten congregations meet at one KH. Dubbies only have to travel once and so don't mind a longer distance drive.
This meeting would be Public Talk 20 mins/WT study 30 mins/Bible reading 5 mins/ministry part 10 mins/CLAM part 10 mins. Two songs/prayers/announcements 15 mins.
Total 90 mins.
Then a program for family worship.
Week one Broadcast of course
Week two "God loves a cheerful Giver"
Week three "Bring your gold and silver to the "temple"
Week four "The resurrection hope costs money"
(Week five) "The Governing Body loves you so donate.
More halls to sell. Lovely Loot for Lett and Co.

As a reminder - here's links to the two previous video explainers that the WT has used - from November 2016 and July 2017:

Sounds like damage control. Are they perhaps planning some other changes before then that need to be explained (defended)?
@ttdtt I am very curious how it will compare to that 3 hour "Elders only" stream on 1/1/2015.
@darkspilver Thanks! I've added links to the 3 hour LDC 1/31/2015 meeting in that thread.
"Thing is most witnesses I knew looked for excuses to miss meetings."
Yeah, especially when, during a snowstorm, they get the welcome phone call: "meeting cancelled."
Hoorays and high-fives all around!
