I thought I would start this thread going , always feel the need to brag on my kids. I guess it makes me so proud that they are living the normal life that so many of us didnt get to have.
My son is a Sophmore this year and is playing football again this year. He is in a very tiny school, and they are playing some very big schools, with lots of money. Our little school , just got a grant last year to take down the old gym and got over a million dollars to build a new gym . It even has a track upstairs, new locker rooms etc. It is beautiful. They say it is the best in all of Webster parish, which is cool, since we are the tiniest school. He will be playing basketball when football is over and the new gym is going to really inspire them.
He is Class President this year and his first duty is to arrange a float , get the trailer from his Pappaw and decorate it with his class for Homecoming. The school always makes a big deal of the Homecoming Parade.
He was voted Class favorite this year , he is on the Beta Club and an honor student. I am starting a scrapbook for him because his name has been in the papers several times already. Although he thinks it is ok, he is happy that I cut the clippings out for him, he knows how much it means to me .
He is a pain in the butt most of the time , but he is doing very well in his life and is happy, so until the last year we were in the borg. He got every depressed and terrible lonely, being the only teen even close to his age at our hall.
My other two , are still doing the home school thing until they are ready to go to school next year, but I am already getting them , slowly adjusted to a routine, and activities that will get them ready to be in school . It may only be a few months before my daughter goes , but we are working on getting her ready to take a big leap test she will have to take this year. She is a tomboy, who has a temper and lol,,,,,,,,,has no problem taking up for herself, which is something you have to do at school. But she has to learn how to give and take, she is very firey and she told me she doesnt want to be a cheerleader, she wants to play football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My youngest , is doing well also and is going to love football probably more than than his older brother, he is one tough little boy and will not stop once he starts playing sports. He just is like alot of little boys, loves to ride his bike all of the neighborhood with his little friends, play football in the back field and get in trouble throwing mud . He is not really into sitting down studying, and has ADDH, PTSD, and OCD so we are working on getting him ready to be able to handle school. I think soon he will be ready and it just might be the structure he needs .
We moved back to our old neighborhood and are very invovled with our community and at any given time , everyday , after school and weekends there are up to 20 kids around our house, inside outside, even when it gets dark outside.
Last night , a group of 10 other young teenage boys , Denny , Jes and me, sat outside talking about God, who beleives what, who doesnt care, who doesnt have a clue, etc.
It was so interesting to hear them open their hearts to adults and want to sit there and have interaction with each other on such deep things. I was amazed at how some of them have been in serious trouble with the law, their mom's , and have already been thru more hard things than I could even imagine going thru at their ages,,,,,,,,,,,,yet they have really learned some valuable lessons.
Sometimes , I feel like I have 20 kids instead of just 3, so many dont have fathers involved in their lives and they turn to Denny to talk to , to learn football, to work with weights or just have a place to hang out at.
So if you want to ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,get to bragging, dont let me be the only one........ I know for a fact I wont be, but I would love to hear what your kids are doing in school , in life, after the borg. Post a pic or two if you want I would love to see those also if you are comfortable posting pics of them. I have no problem, since I have done it many times.
Love ya all and Good Luck to all the kids out there. Dede
