Walter sued Rutherfraud, won the case, and tot a lot of money. He wrote about Rutherfrauds wealth and behavior. Rutherfraud called Walter “the devil” in a Watchtower article.

I wonder why WT keeps bringing up his name after 80 years instead of giving just vague details about the whole thing like they do with 1975 or Raymond Franz.

Schnell first published his book, Thirty Years a Watchtower Slave: Confessions of a Converted Jehova;s Witness in the 1957. Its chief claim to fame is it was perhaps the first ever extended critique of the Watchtower Society.
Schnell, however, was not an effective communicator: The blatant tone throughout his tome was disproportionately hostile, he lacked empathy for the rank and file and the reader could be forgiven for never being clear what point Schnell was trying to make. Even a sympathetic reader could tell that Schnell's pride had been wounded by the organization.
Unfortunately, the bitterness of his book has provided the organization's chief "rebuttal" for decades up to the present that ex-JWs are proud, bitter and angry people.
