It sounds like the after-effects of cult indoctrination. Watchtower wants people to believe world events are fulfilling their prophecies- that there is nothing positive to be drawn from world conditions. The reality on the ground is that the highest percentage of humanity ever is living longer, enjoys a better standard of living, better healthcare, better education, more travel opportunities. So dire and hopeless are these last days that most people would choose to live their life in our time than any other era of history- if such a choice were possibly.
We have been conditioned to have a negative, unbalanced outlook- that's my opinion.

So do animals. So do plants too
Atomant, actually what youre feeling isn't unusual. High control religions groups want total control over their cult-like groups to feel delusional. They use world events to, like others said, to back-up and support their beliefs.
When you really go to the **deep end** and think about our lives as JWs. If we only really have one life, what a waste of life to be always on edge waiting for the big A, when reality we only have this one life to enjoy. Yes, one life to enjoy eating, travelling, countless other things. Instead of being on a knifes edge, walking on egg shells 24-7 your entire life!!!!

Most likely the ancient Hebrews 3000 years ago probably thought the same thing when earthquakes were occurring, storms which caused floods occurred, wars were all around them, famine, diseases were rampant.
The recent economic recession has caused some insecurities and disrepair but in comparison to what happened back in the 1920's, be thankful for not experiencing that depression era. -

There's still a lot of suffering even though huge advances in democracy, agriculture, medicine, technology etc have been made. Life is so much better now for huge amounts of the world's population. But not everyone is enjoying the prosperity and progress. There are still a hell of a lot of corrupt governments greedily fleecing their countries. Not to mention greedy multinationals manufacturing things that we don't need and then indoctrinating us with advertising to believe we can't be happy without them. You have to keep your eyes open and not be decieved by people who want to take advantage of you. The world is full of users.
There are also many good people trying to help others and giving some of their hard-earned to people they will never meet. Lots of people work quietly doing good. Whether it's looking after an elderly relative or giving millions to charity. What we see around us is all part of life's rich tapestry. We are far from living in a civilised world, there is still a long way to go.
