This is just as though they read the Scientology bok on managing Real-Estate! The Co$ does the same thing to avoid being perceived by the IRS as accumulating hoards of CASH!

    "No, we're a RELIGION!"

I thought at some stage they were not going to build one of the resident buildings or maybe they just delayed it.

Since they had initially planned for it and it had been approved, in the long run, it would be significantly cheaper to build it now rather than later on.

If Sir82 is right then could we see Walkill or Patterson be sold off entirely? They are printing significantly less than what they were just a few years ago.

And the regular JW said "wasn't today a wonderful watchtower study article?" and her companions nodded in unison agreement...

You have a good point their Gorbatchov , they may be lousy with their Bible predictions ,however I think they are very cluey with their Real Estate investments .

It certainly is prudent to allow for expansion. But in the watchtower's case with all the downsizing to looks to be a waste of dedicated funds.

sir82 - "...why else would the GB devote the entire WT study to 'Here's the way you ought to behave when you are released from Bethel service' unless they were planning more?"

    This.

Simplest explanation is usually the likeliest one.

Run a Dub - "As an FYI from a couple that live there (long-time friends), yes, there is still a lot of space there that is unused."

I have to admit, I didn't see that coming.

I've been expecting it for years.

Just had a quick read though it https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/watchtower-study-october-2018/inner-peace-changing-circumstances/

    What a load of tosh.

When they're given the news that they're being axed:

When they're told they can still work for free for the cult:

My question is, if it's "so much fun" being "in the field" why bother applying for Bethel in the first place?
