Hey. Does anyone else dread attending (in person or on Zoom) the Memorial MONTHS in advance?

Literally as soon as New Year hits, I feel sick and super anxious, and I've realised it's because of the Memorial, which I only attend because of family, who kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz I left the JW sevel years ago.

    Just a thought: if they

kinda tell me the reason they have bad health is cuz I left the JW sevel years ago.

    then why go at all?

Doesn’t seem you’ve much more to do in your exiting so just be done with it.

you could go and eat and drink and they likely won't want you to ever go back! ( I know, I'm bad!)

Same talk. Crowded venue. If you perchance get the " hall", vacate quickly for the next crowd or wait until after bedtime for your turn

as far as the beliefs, mostly right. Annual, we aint all going to heaven, real wine, ransom. This is shaded by the other thread of why we care any more; and a tendency toward agnosticism, atheism most of us feel.

My advice would be to break free of it and just not go.

But that's a call you have to make based on your relationship with your family.

Are things going to get worse with them if you decide not to go?

They already know you've stopped being a JW, right?

I fail to see why going through this charade once a year simply to please others would make you feel like this.

If you show your face at the memorial, certain eldubs may 'befriend' you and come over and talk to you, in a smarmy, condescending tone. They could, most likely will try to arrange a shepperding call or drop in visit(s) in the weeks to follow.

If you go to the memorial,,,a heads-up.

Find a gullible looking elder and ask him to explain why the Passover is not even given a mention at the Memorial anymore.

You could even sing him a little reminder song... 'twas Nisan 14 when your glory was seen... The Passover lamb was then eaten, and Israel 12 tribes went forth free....

Don't they now sing song #25 that glorifies the anointed?

One evening, for less than an hour ( on 4th April) to keep the old folks happy is not too much to ask. I agree that it is a meaningless ritual but just go along with it . Thankfully I only have to zoom in these days.
