    Slimboyfat,

While a unpopular position here, I'm a unashamed PIMO for a number of reasons, one of which is that I still believe in the very basic teaching of the WTBS but disobedient due to over-controling nature of the Governing Body and their position on child abuse. For many years I had hoped for some kind of reform might take place (perhaps as Ray Franz had hoped for) but as the years have gone by, I feel more disappointed, realizing that it looks unlikely to eventuate. Which is a pity because the faith, could be so much more.

Are they being still being used by God? It a fair question though. Perhaps, would be my honest answer.

But my mind keep on circling back to the position of people who are not Witnesses but out of a clean heart to genuinely sacrifice their lives to serve others spiritually. And ask ... how could that one be abandoned by God?

Personally I believe that everybody will be saved in the end. I think Russell was closer to this position than modern JWs although he certainly denied being a universalist. Why do I think everyone will be saved? Because Jehovah is good and wants it to be so and has the power to make it so. When anyone disobeys God it is always based on a misunderstanding of what is right and how one should behave. As these barriers are removed everyone will be reconciled with God. This is taught many places such as 1 Cor 15, Romans, 2 Peter.

Why dont' you just look in the index.

    W53 8/15 that tells why.

The reason that Jehovah stated 'me' eventhough he referred to Jesus as the one that would be pierced is because many times he puts himself in the place of Jesus because he can't talk about Jesus yet.

John the Baptizer said he was the one to "Prepare the way of Jehovah! Make his roads straight"

Isaiah couldn't say clear up the way of Jesus because there was no Jesus as of yet.

@Rattigan, so that would imply Jesus = Jehovah (God). Because John the baptizer is commonly accepted to be the preparation for Jesus. The Bible does specify "the Messiah" (Daniel 9, Isaiah) or "my son" (Psalm 2:7) in other places.

"Yahweh Our Righteousness," or "Jehovah Tsidkenu" (יהוה צדקנו), is a name of God that appears in Jeremiah 23:6 which is commonly interpreted to mean Jesus.

You can see the split in thoughts between the "Messiah = God" and "Messiah = son of God" in early writings and still to date, various Jewish groups do not share the same opinion, because you either have to accept the divinity of a Messiah (multiple gods) or a duality/trinity in a single God-person as most Christians and some Muslims groups do.

This idea is older than the Christian faith, it is a 'problem' in any monotheistic group to be able to attribute properties such as a mediator between god and man. Polytheistic religions solve this issue with multiple gods and demi-gods being the interlocutor.

While I consistently been a word-for-word translation guy through most of my life... maybe in the end, it's the thought that counts.

I'd agree with the latter thought.

Translation is not a simple word for word substitution; not even in closely related modern languages that share many cognates.
