I suppose there could be several reasons for a woman to lie about her status. But I think the main reason is because she fears all the bs some men get hung up on. She doesn't want to be looked at and penalized for being "used goods".
Funny though, the term virgin. Among JWs. I knew virgins and those that claimed they waited until they were married. Oh they were virtuous virgins who had engaged in oral sex, hand play, homosexual experimentation and I include here the lesbian kind, too. They bragged about their virtuous purity and looked down on those who had lost their "virginity" before their first marriage. Why would I lie? I have no use for a man who can't take me as I am! I think disclosing the nombre of sexual partners you've had is a bad idea though. That's one thing you should keep to yourself IMO. All that matters is, I know what I'm doing...LOL!

You can only be with a virgin once anyway. It's afterwards that it gets fun, guy's who are all hung up on virtue in this day & age are looking for a woman they can control, their not usually worried about the state of her hymen.
I think women traditionally are afraid of being labeled "promiscuous" (sp?). But, this is the new day and age, and women should have no reason to lie. While I am not happy about some encounters I've had in the past, it doesn't change the person I am at this very moment, and therefore see no reason to lie about it. If a man can not understand this, then F* him. I am who I am, and my favorite saying is "love me as I am, or leave me as you found me". In other words, don't try to change me, because you can't. I am the sum total of all my experiences to date, and if you don't like it, find someone else.

Xan snifs the air.. hum smells funny in here. Women are no longer commodities anymore.. so our pure state is not a selling point. We no longer have to prove children's parenting ( we have DNA testing for that now). Virginity is a man made sanction on women's sexuality.
It goes back to pagan times.. men feared women's powers and subjecated them to these stupid "rules". Virginity should only matter to person themselves. It is a special meaning or not depending on the person.
I agree with avish.. it is about control. The mindset of you have to be up to this standard is bull.
Too bad women cannot have a automatic indicator of how a man is in bed.
