    SanFranciscoJim:

I appreciate your response indepth. I have and frequently heard the storys of Leo Greenlees and also of Percy Chapman. I knew both of these men however my association with them was merely on ocassions at Bethel and at conventions. I spoke more to Percy because he was a family friend. As you say he was a man of the old school and many men from this time were difficult to sometimes figure out. It is true of his boys he hand picked and his evenings out.

As for Leo, I knew him from assemblies. Oh I do think that both Percy and Leo were friends of my Grandparents as they were special pioneer in Toronto in the late 40ties. and fifitys I am not sure as to when they became friends with Leo. I guess it was when he was in Bethel. My grandfather was congregation servant in willowdale, they built the kingdom hall on Drury. ave . My grandfathers son my uncle always gave me the creeps later in the seventies he was discovered that he was a homosexual and pedophile . My father knew nothing of his brothers sexual side. But it seems unusal to me today that my grandparents were friends Percy and Leo and I' m just guessing here if this is some how my uncle became associated with homosexuality. As my Grandpa spent alot of time at Bethel. Tho my grandparents hearts were broken for his pervise actions . They never got over it .

Homosexuality is a individuals choice. But it should be practise by those who wish to practise it with them.

But these so called high men that ran/run a "God like organization" and preached that this is a practice unscriptual. It proves all the more to me why I left and that I knew that they were hypocrites. They are worse then the parables of Christ in fact the are the interpetation of the parables of Christ. They are the harlot that rides the wild beast just like all other so called organized religions.

I will check into this website and appreciate very much your helpful insite.

Orangefatcat, this is exactly why I left as well. At the time I made my exit 23 years ago, I had no knowledge of the escapades of Greenlees and Chapman. However, as a gay man myself, I could not in good conscience continue to live the life of a hypocrite myself. This is the reason why support networks for active gay JWs puzzle me. A recent issue of the Watchtower once again denounces homosexuality. If I were a gay JW, I would have a lot of problem going out in field service and presenting that issue to householders. Back in the mid-70s, I distributed an issue of Awake entitled "The Gay Life - Is It Really Gay?" I know the feelings of hypocrisy which are undoubtedly being experienced by those BHFs who are required to spread the Watchtower's homophobic drivel out in field service.

    Homosexuality is a individuals choice.

Point of clarification here, if I may. Whether a person chooses to act upon their homosexuality is an individual's choice. One's sexual orientation is no more a choice than one's skin, hair or eye color. I know -- I tried to turn heterosexual as a JW; a conscious choice which failed miserably.

I cannot imagine that the Watchtower would accept homosexuals in their midst within our lifetime. If they suddenly recanted all of their homophobia and admitted that they are misinterpreting scripture, unnecessarily persecuting a segment of their own membership, there would be a mass exodus from the religion. As long as the Society continues to express vehement anti-gay sentiment, the membership will continue believe they have a God-given right to prejudice and judgement. Jehovah's Witnesses are, and will continue to be, a haven for homophobes.

Worse yet, the actions of the Society in regard to homosexuality almost give silent permission to gays in leadership positions to lead double lives. I wonder how many gay elders sat on judicial committees where others were disfellowshipped for homosexuality? I personally know of two - including one who sat on my judicial committee and came to my door several days after I was disfellowshipped, and tried to seduce me!

thanks SanFranciscoJim for your clarification on a persons choice or orientation of sexuality. I am by no means here to throw stones. I as you could never stay in a organization as a hypocrity and I is good to see that you felt the same way I did. I just got up and left. I committed adultry and rather than pretend that my marriage and life was perfect and go to meetings carrying on as a hypocrite, I walked away from the marriage and the organization and believe me I had this well planned out.

How terrible the persons on your own judical committee came on to you. How disgraceful. Who are they trying to fool? He sits there to judge you and yet he is worse than you because he continues in his lies. At least you made the effort to practice hetrosexualallity.

Yes if the Society condons this group of gays/lesbians then it is not hard to believe that there leaders were once run by men who were gay. They taught with vengengance that homosexuals and lesbiens were sinners and would die... Puck.. I am no trying to make myself appear some saint, I have always wanted a bisexual tryout, but haven't done it yet.

All of us are what we are inside. So except ourselves and just keep going and be happy so long as we hurt no one in the prosecess.

Life is good as a Witness in ?good standing? still doing what I please!

People in good standing as a witness DO NOT do as they please......unless they like living a lie.
We just found a group of others like us that don?t necessarily agree with everything in the religion, but that don?t want to leave it either.

You mean you DO NOT agree with everything the society teaches. You have disregarded what this religion stands for.........the GB being gods "ONLY" channell to it's adherants. You live a lie.

Show me a person who doesn't have a struggle with his religion and I'll show you a liar.
That's exactly why religion is a snare and a racket. I try not to stay with things I struggle with. BTW.....what do you mean by struggle? Do you mean that it doesn't make a damn bit of sense? Then why do you stay? So far....I'm not impresses at all. I think people who hang with a religion so full of atrocities against it's members should be avoided like the plague......you obviously know very little about the Organisation or you wouldn't be involved in the manner in which you are. So we just hang out together, do our drinking, our nice partying on a weekly basis and carry on merrily. We’re a cool click within an uptight click, per say. Life is good!

Hey have a real blast Skeptically. The fact that you have found happiness & merry times outside instead of inside your religion is quite telling, nonetheless I hope you enjoy life. Hiding away from the elders is not my idea of fun but thats irrelevant.

when i read this person post i wanted to laugh here we have a person who does everything they want to do and yet still believes that somehow a Publishing Company is connected to god- just think how Pissed off this person will be when they finally realize that wt had nothing to do with how they lived their lives anyway they speak in terms of having to "Sneek" a around and living a Normal life (dancing, drinking, socializing , etc) as if they are doing something It reminds me of a slave who tells others slaves "Hey I sneek into master house and read a book a his shelf" Like that is such a major accomplishment- same with this poster, he and a few friends get together for some wonderful association and they come here and post it as if they have accomplished something major we all left wt and we can do what he does without having to worry about getting "Reported" to some Book Publishing company out of NY can you imagine this poster telling his fellow co workers "Hey this weekend I went dancing and had a couple of drinks and No one is going to turn me into the Corp offfice of my religion in NYC" his co-worker would think that this poster is a ""Damn" fool for belonging to a group that treats him or her like a child it is only children who must "Sneek" around and steal a "Cookie" grown folks can eat "Cookies" whenever they want to smile

If its true - More power to your elbow!

In normal religions, people are not continually judged on their personal choices in entertainment, hobbies, styling and career. In normal religions, every single congregation member does not have the same beliefs on the minutiae of doctrine, nor are they required to.

If a high control group is not controlling its members, what is it doing?

The Watchtower is not going to disappear, and if it was sued out of financial existance, hard core JWs would start it up again. The only hope for sincere JWs still under the control of the WT is long term liberalisation, and that is not going to happen from the outside.

However, on a personal level, I could not be a part of that organisation, knowing what they do, even if I could get away with being a "JW lite". But I suppose some people like it that way.

Hi there! Welcome to the forum!

I was in that group, too! We partied, had fun, did all that stuff... and it's okay! A lot of ppl here were "straight" dubs, so to speak. I can tell you some stories, let me tell you! I remember one party where people were "stage diving" off of a balcony into a crowd of ppl. HILARIOUS!

The party will end, let me tell you. TRUST ME. When it does, you will get in trouble. But, oh well.

Life is good that way... for a time. Your conscience will get to you sooner than later. I never believed it until it happened to me years later.

Live your life the way that you want to for now. Times change and people change. Wait until your friends get DF'd. Then the hurt will start.

Anyhoo, welcome to the forum! Nice to see a fellow rebel! (I never got in trouble... everyone else I hung with did!)
