Lately, we've gotten together with my wife's family and their friends. My wife has brought up that we're no longer going to meetings and "practicing" the religion. I find it very refreshing to explain REASONS why I do not support Jehovah's Witnesses, as a religion. I have mentioned how Witnesses view everyone else of a different religion as "going to die" because they aren't Jehovah's Witnesses. I've explained that Witnesses will shun and no longer talk to anyone that get's disfellowshipped because they are now viewed basically as "dead". I have found that being COMPLETELY HONEST about what Jehovah's Witnesses believe in and TELLING others about is quite liberating.
I've Been Telling People Why I Don't Go To Meetings Anymore & It Feels Good

Did you tell witnesses why you don't go anymore, or worldly people?

No, I haven't told Witnesses anything. That is why they are perplexed and have called and visited me at my work lately. I'm in the process of fading and am now "irregular (2 months).

Good start Minimus, plus a wonderful way of developing a support structure for yourself once you're totally faded. It sucks when you do it cold turkey and have no one there for support.
Best of luck to you!

Minimus: I feel the same way as you. It DOES feel good to tell others why. The funny thing is, is all the stuff you mention are such obvious evils, why do JW's deny them or make them seem good? That part never makes sense.

Good for you Min! I have a loyal client base, 2500 or so. 80% of my business is repeat customers. I grew my hair long. They all ask me about it. I was your very clean cut, family man, type person. This affords me an opportunity to fill them in on the "real" JW's. I love it! And, you may ask, has my seedy look hurt my business? I am booked two months ahead and get 60 calls a week. I do 200 jobs a year, so... not at all! Maverick*
*Except no duds call me to do them favors or freebies or borrow my tools or trucks anymore...tis a pity!

I just came back from a visit to my mother and once again she said she couldn't understand how I can just leave "God's channel". I told her that the truth is that this could NEVER be "God's channel" but according to Deuteronomy, the organization perfectly, SCRIPTURALLY, fulfills the definition of a "false prophet". And since the Bible is not supposed to be open to any human interpetation, it is undeniable that the organization is built around false prophecies. Certainly, Jehovah God could never be behind ANYTHING false.

Minimus,
I too have been telling people why I don't go any more and I agree "it Is very liberating."
I would love to be able to tell witnesses but "they never ask me "Why?"

Well, Chester, I had a brother ask me this week, "Why?"..... I told him that I'd keep that one to myself. If I believed for 1 minute that I could tell "an honest-hearted one" the real truth about the "truth", I'd be thrilled. But I know better.

Tell her that all of the programs on the WatchTower channel blow. You have been surfing around and have found much better channels elsewhere.
Besides, that WatchTower channel had too many televised fund raisers and Infomercials. Always trying to get in your pocket and your head.
Ya, I have told a select few that I finally realized that it's a cult and that I'm trying to escape w/my wife. The response I got?
"No kidding. I wasn't sure how to tell you that. Glad you figured it out."
Winston.
