  I think people are confusing different meanings of the word "service".

  If someone walks into your store where you sell cakes to the public, you cannot refuse them service unless it's for some reason that you refuse ALL people service (e.g. shirts must be worn, behave in a decent manner).

  Hiring someone to provide a service is entirely different. How you are contracting them to do something specifically for you and to your specific requirements and then the person has the right to refuse to provide that service if the requirements violate their beliefs.

  It's. Really. Quite. Simple.

  But I will acknowledge that the whole argument of forcing an artist to create art is a compelling one. But does a custom cake meet the threshold of artistry? That’s actually what the court spent most of their time pondering over. Because then where would you draw the line?

  its not about events. The government doesn’t recognize events. They recognize services. If you offer a service, you have to offer a service to all.

  How can you ever refuse service to anyone for anything then???

  What if they tell you to make a chocolate cake, and you abhorrently hate chocolate? Should government thugs come in and force you to make it? What if you are DJ that only plays hip-hop music and someone wants you to do a country music-themed wedding, and you say no?

  I think it's been hammered home about a dozen times here that he did NOT refuse them service to his business, he refused to do contract work for an event. Not the same.

This is was in Hico, Texas. Where I was also pointed out by a resident that the Klan has rallies in a nearby park. Really? You're oblivious to this? Man. No wonder you believe the things you do.
  
  I don't know about bakeries, but in a town that fully supports the Klan, I could easily see black people being refused various services.

  First off the Supreme court didn't rule in favor of being able to discriminate based on religious belief, they overturned the decision about Colorado vs. the baker. It wasn't precedent for other such cases.

  And this whole belief thing is bullshit. Suppose somebody saw A Company Of Wolves and now believes anybody with a unibrow is now a werewolf and refuses them anything because they're evil? You'd say this person is nuts. But because it's something a lot of gullible people fall for, we respect it? Bullshit! Stupid is stupid.

  Even this whole thing about god created man and woman that's at the core of this baker's beliefs. The Bible says god took a piece of Adam's rib to create Eve. Which means, if this were real, it would have the DNA of Adam, which would have XY chromosomes. Which means Eve (cloned from Adam's rib) would be male too. So, sorry believers, it would have been Adam and Steve, not Adam and Eve. And God paired them creating the first gay marriage.
  
  At what point do we classify religion as the laughable superstition that it is and stop using it's postulates as a basis for society? Use some critical thinking and stop letting myths govern our lives!

  yes they absolutely exist in the usa. i can name one in the midwest that i lived near but am not going to reveal where i am from. Head of the KKK. Every year they are in the city parade. Blacks dont live there. Fights break out when neighboring schools play football if one happens to be on the team.

  Strange that the civil rights groups and ACLU aren't bringing cases against these businesses if that is the case.
