In the mid 1990's while I was a bethelite in Australia, it was $110 per MONTH.

Thank you guys, so this is in line with what the Circuit Overseer told me, good. The Special Pioneer information is completely new to me, I thought they received the same 200-300, glad you mentioned that sir82. I also didn't know it varied by country fulano, that's important.
What I'm trying to do is calculate figures as to how much a Bethelite could make outside of Bethel vs how much they make inside of Bethel to show how much the movement is saving/making off them, i.e., what exact amount it exploits from them. I'm going to use the NY minimum wage to calculate what an individual who works Bethelite hours would make outside Bethel (to my understanding, still about a 40 hour week, maybe a couple more from what I heard at an interest meeting at a convention), given how many Bethelites serve at Warwick, and then subtract what Bethelites make at Bethel from this figure (it's about 15k - 3k, so the movement saves/exploits them out of nearly 12k).

I suppose to be fair you would have to adjust the figure for free accommodation . food , laundry , electricity and other costs as well. A lot of Bethelites in times past had side jobs to supplement their income , usually on a tax free " cash in hand" basis.
The real exploited ones are the temporary volunteers who work on the builds etc and get virtually nothing from the Org and the mugs (like all of us ) that actually donated to all the Bethel projects.

From 1970 to 1974 at the the world head quarters it was $14 a month with a $8 travel allowance for subway tokens, for a total of $22 a month. Back then the tokens were .35 cents or round trip of .70 cents. Three trips to your congregation a week times four weeks a month for a total of $8.40 a month.
That is why most of us back there after working 46 hours a week making only about .12 cents an hour working working for Jehovah went out and got another part time job to support ourselves.

Dozy, you're definitely right, and I don't know to take that into consideration. I guess I just need to acknowledge that and try to find some sort of figure for New York as to average rent? I'm still thinking it out.
new boy, that's also helpful information, thank you. By the way, loved your stories of Bethel!

1 Calculate $14.00 in 1970 had the same buying power as $91.55 in 2018
Annual inflation over this period was about 3.99%
https://www.dollartimes.com/inflation/inflation.php?amount=1&year=1970
So $14/mo in 1970 had less value than $200-$300 a month now. Some Bethelites did side jobs ("g jobs") like
renovations/plumbing for their old car expenses/gas/beer.

300 sounds like way too much. It was 90$ in the early 1990s when i was there.

Gayle, I never even thought of including inflation in my calculation but that's crucial. As to your comment, Morpheus, et me check my copy of the Circuit Overseers secret handbook and see if there's not more specific figures in there. Perhaps they make more than bethelites.

I'm going to try and call the headquarters, let's see if they give me the run around.

You're going to call WT HQ and ask how much they pay to their Bethelites / COs / SPs?
LOL.
I admire your gumption, but it would be easier for you to cross over into NK and give Kim Jong Un a pedicure.
