So, why is it OK for Naaman and not for a Dub?
For the same reason that Cornelius didn't have to separate himself completely from the military before being baptized, as a JW would have to do today:
Because the Society says so.
A related comment (I hope I didn't overlook it already on here), Naaman was not required to stay in Israel to worship God along with his "anointed" people, yet the WTS says that is a requirement for JWs today.
Blondie
True, Blondie. We could also look at the the book of Jonah which is all about God sending his prophet to a non-Israelite (i.e. Gentile) people.

How about Lot? He CHOSE to be the gatekeeper of a city full of men who were just a tad a little too fond of each other. He chose to live with homosexuals though he himeself was not. He is mentioned in hebrews as a man of faith and integrity. A dub cannot even WORK at a gambling casino........let alone take a job overseeing homosexuals as did lot.

While we're on the subject........there was Joseph appointed a Prime Minister of Egypt, then there was Daniel also an administrator. Oh, I nearly forgot, there was Moses a Prince of Egypt. Phew!
Sure makes ya think, eh?

Later something interesting happened - he bowed before the god Rimmon with the king. He asked for forgiveness to Elisha and was told, "Go in peace".
I'll get out my CD when I get home and get the society's comments on this but If I recall, Naaman's bowing down to the god Rimmon should be viewed as being part of an organization but, at the same time, not a part of it. I think the example given was being a NGO with the UN.
Apparently, Naaman wanted to learn more and wanted easier access to some of the holy scrolls to do research. His bowing down to the god Rimmon facilitated access to the scrolls. Plus, I believe the article mentioned it then would have been unlikely that Naaman would have had to leave a deposit if he borrowed the scrolls over the weekend.
