This is exactly why I love this site....

there are so many ideas that just expose the insanity of Watchtower behaviour, I ideas that I could never have thought up myself, I mean, why the heck didn't anybody think about that one? Now you've pointed out, it's so frikkin' obvious...

I bet the bethelite on the other end of the line was pretty shocked...

Not a new policy. That is business as usual.

It's an effective cult mechanism to eliminate those asking questions that cannot be asked or answered.

They wanted to intimidate you. By demanding you put it in writing, they'll get your name, address and congregation so they can mark you. They'd be smoking up the phone line in two seconds flat. You know, telephone, telegraph, tell-a-dub! Being straightforward and giving you a verbal answer takes away their opportunity to go after you later on.

You are supposed to read between the lines that you're on thin ice, asking impertinent questions like that, ha. They remind me of the sinister Scientologists.

    we will "aens" the elders

One of the key words in your post is misspelled, what is aens supposed to be.

Wasn't there an article a while back stating, essentially, that they didn't want to be bothered to answer write-in questions any more?

@Shirley: I suspect that 'aens' was supposed to be 'send'. Maybe auto-correct help?
