    JWs will not salute the flag. However they will support the US constitution which gives congress the right to establish the military and to declare and to make war. Isn’t that tant amount to supporting the country going to war?

    Section. 8.

    The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

    To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offences against the Law of Nations;

    To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

    To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

    To provide and maintain a Navy;

    To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

    To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

    To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

    Well, perhaps today you don't need to take the Oath of Allegiance to The United States of America to get your passport but how about Watchtower supporting the United Nations as a Non Governmental Organization for ten years up until 2000

    In 1891 Charles Taze Russell pledged the oath of allegiance.

    In 1922 Joseph Rutherford pledged the oath of allegiance.

    In 1952 Milton Henschel pledged the oath of allegiance.

    In 1966 Nathan Knorr pledged the oath of allegiance.

    In 1966 Fred Franz pledged the oath of allegiance.

    This entire PDF file shows how buying just one postal stamp promotes all 4 branches of the Military.

    Every time a JW wrote a letter to preach to others and placed a postal stamp on their envelopes, they were helping to promote the United States government and all 4 branches of the Military.

    Anyone know what year the swearing oath of allegiance to get a passport stopped?

    Some of the current GB are getting on maybe they had passports back in the day.

    Did any of this happen at the time of the Malawi/Mexico debacle?

    Just picked this up.

    The oath was required as a prerequisite to the issuance of a passport from 1861, to 1966, when the State Department made it optional.
