I remember as a child the illustrations of all the males from Adam on - beardless. This started to change as the seventies progressed. And I remember Jesus on a stick - I mean stake.

The Watchtower will make a special point of always standing against the grain, being different for the sake of being different, and not being aligned with the "world" with anything.
The problem is that their beliefs are now so wacked, it is nearly impossible to go back and be a religion that is a bit more mainstream and accepted.
