Brotherly love in action..

I'm so upset and angry at the same time. I move in less than 2 weeks and was supposed to be getting help off "brothers" to move and one of them was driving the van and now the elders have had a meeting and told the brothers they can't help coz I'm separated from my (abusive) jw husband and with moving it puts the chances of reconciliation (of which there was zero chance) even further away. Where are these stupid rules that they come up with. These are supposed to be good friends that I've known and helped for 12 years. Shows how conditional friendship is in this religion. I have just over a week to come up with a way to move my stuff now

Sorry to hear. That is indeed brotherly love in action.

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Over here in Australia we have the Salvation Army that one can go to if in need of assistance. Is there maybe a similar organization where you are? May be better not to feel like you owe anyone anything and make a clean break.

    Good luck.

I'm so sorry. See it as a great opportunity to start looking for real friends, and for people who can provide you with unconditional support. Trust me, a lot of s know pretty well about that shit they put you through.

That's terrible. What a way to treat someone that needs help! So typical. Have you any non JW family/friend's that could help out?

    I feel for you Gal.

Why not attend any evangelical church (Baptist, Pentecostal, Alliance etc.) in the area that you are moving to? Tell the pastor your story as a JW who wants to break away from the organization. You may meet some new friends who will be there for you through thick and thin.

Just today, an elder in our church paid two months back rent for a poor elderly mother and her daughter who has recently developed some serious cardiovascular problems and cannot work. He and is wife will be helping them hook up to a social worker and hopefully get the daughter to receive a disability pension.

Time to meet some real Christians.

A few family members and an ex witness friend who I got back in touch with just last week are trying to come up with something. My family are disgusted. My aim once I move is to make some new non jw friends and then I'm handing my letter in to disassociate myself.

The society makes out you have this great family in the "truth" who'll do anything to help each other..... Yeah right!! Even though I'm leaving society anyway im still hurt coz they're supposed to have been my friends these 12 years and they treat me like this when I'm not inactive yet or disassociated or disfellowshiped. Thoght I had real friends and tonight I've learned I don't.

Vanderhoven7 - I've just emailed the local Baptist church up there to see if I can attend the toddler groups to make friends. Think the reverend or whoever it is would be disgusted if i told my story of how I've been treated by jws and how hurt i am
