I think the site I first visited that really got my brain turning was 2001translation. Site.

This site is a Septuagint translation site but they also have commentaries. These commentaries helped to open up my brain to different prospectives on the scriptures. This site and reading older WT publications really helped to find TTATT.

Like stuckinarut2 the first stuff I saw was JWs own crazy old publications. About 2010 I got internet for the first time and was just getting used to it. I googled Jehovah's Witnesses out of curiosity and among the first sites I saw were the crazy ones that scream at you with multi colored fonts, all caps, no paragraphs, black backgrounds, pictures of the pyramid and theories about JWs being Satan worshippers. This turned me into a JW defender for a few years, debating with ex-JWs online. It wasn't long before I came across more logical information that I could confirm, and eventually I got to the point where I could no longer defend the religion and actually began to have a hatred for it.

I Faded Twice

Watch the tower was the first one I saw. But jwfacts and JW survey years later were the ones that made me see the full scope of it all. The only thing I got from watch the tower was the un scandal . The site was what you were taught to expect from apostate sites.

When I watched Cedars videos it was less in you're face . He really is talented at waking people up I think. It has to keep the GB up at night trying to figure out what to do about him.

That website was simply showing quotes of various watchtower teachings within their respective context. I remember I watched it as there were no "apostate" comments over them and they were in fact, clearly in their context.

And then, the watchtower had the web site shot down using copyright laws: I was shocked, SHOCKED! How could they shut down a site that simply displayed information that I was giving away for free every Saturday morning?? Besides, I could not imagine that Jesus would have done something similar either.

That was the moment I realized that my religion did not act for God and did not have his blessing. And yet, I still believed in God and the hope of resurrection in a restored paradis. So, I remained an active member for another 8 years! In terms of organization, I was a PIMO, however, as it was the closest thing to what I personally believed at the time, I stayed in. That is, up until I was supposed to teach everything, including the lies, to my kids. That was the final draw.

Oh, and for 8 years, I was mostly on this very site: www.jehovahs-witness.com. before I left.

Also reading Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom helped me towards the final push. Once I was indeed inactive, John Cedar, the rational and professional; Mike and Kim, the loving, yet hysterical couple; and finally, the Great Apostate, the every happy man who takes it all with a sense of humor.

The first one I remember visting was members.aol.com/beyondjw It blew my mind that there was someone having the same doubts that I was, and had worked through it and came out the other end. I sent him an email telling Timothy how overwhelmed I was and grateful.
