    I'm about half done

Sheesh, Devon! You're doin' better 'n me, cher!

One thing about being a jw - it saves money around Xmas time. So I get real jw-ish during the holidays! ~best of both worlds class~

LOL, Rocketman! If your fam feels the same way, it should work out okay then...

I enjoy the last minute shopping which keeps me much more festive because I avoid all the other shoppers who "started early". Now decorating is really fun!!!! Hugs, PandaClaus

LOL, Panda! I just like to watch the festivity shopping from afar....I get enough of the "spirit" from that...heheheh....decorating IS fun, idnit?....I love the newer elaborate Christmas wreaths that are on the market now....and the LIGHTS!!! All those tiny twinkling strands of lights!!! It's a HOOT!!

I found the neatest thing that I wanted - something for the kitchen (and I'm the non-cook of my family). Well, didn't buy it for myself, but bought one in different colors for immediate family (so they can swap colors) - and one for my *adopted* daughter here.

lol - and they can be bought on Ebay too - look under Williams Sonoma stuff. Really cool, practical, pretty & I know they don't have 'em. People who cook or entertain with breads will like them. If you want me to tell you.....pm me.

I'm done, and the store wrapped them for me. I put the bow on & under the tree they'll go! (I made the little lady at the store go hunt for her Christmas wrap in September.) I could get the hang of this stuff. I'm quite proud of myself. Last year was a pain in the rear. resting waiting

WOW, Waiting! I'm gonna PM ya right after I post this....lol, bet that store clerk wasn't too surprised tho....seems they're putting the Christmas shtuff on the shelves to display earlier and earlier....

I start my Christmas shopping on BOXING DAY. Yep, I am one of those sick minds that buys what they can as soon as it is on SALE. Comes from being Scottish (CHEAP)LOL.

I have more than 2/3 of my shopping done already.

LOL, Diana! That's not cheap....I'm part Scottish, too.....it's bein' frugal, huni.....you're doin' better than I am....I feel like I'm doin' okay just because I've decided what to buy...lol

I have almost all of it done. Just need one gift for my mother-in-law and gotta find somthing for hubby. Almost all the gifts have to be mailed across country so I always start early

Very wise, Lady Lee.....I guess I'd better get my shoppin' shoes on, huh?

Okay... how long before celebrating Christmas doesn't feel wrong! I was raised JW and my sig other loves Christmas. We celebrate, but I'm not comfortable with it. Any advice?

Oh, and I'm about halfway finished.

Lucky you, CG! It takes time to change opinions you've been indoctrinated into from childhood, CG...I just look at it as a time of festivity, a celebration of love....that helps a lot....

It's an odd feeling with family outside our home. They know we have decreased our religious activity, and yet they don't ask, and we haven't said much. On my side, most are jws, so it's status quo. On her side, we usually get a card with money and gift or two. Even while jws, we always accepted the gifts. But now I actually feel weird by accepting and not giving, and yet if we give.....oh well.

Geez, (((Rocketman))).....that must be difficult juggling all those fam differences.....but IMO, if it bugs ya, do something about it....just stuff 'em in yer trunk till yall can deliver 'em and don't let yer dub fam members know about it....what they don't know won't hurt yall....heheheh.....go for the joy, if you feel like it....not cause someone else says you should or shouldn't.....

Gawd almighty! This is my first Christmas I may do something about (last year was too new and weird). I have my brother and his partner, as well as a few people from work and maybe a couple of xJWs I met through this board for whom I will buy gifts.

Is this what "normal" people do? Start planning for Christmas in October???? Jeez . Glad I don't have kids, then I'd have to stress about presents under a tree.

Tree??? Do I have to get a tree? Ornaments? Oh yeah right, I'm still supposed to be in "good standing". No tree. Good, I can just stress about gifts. And wrapping paper. And cards.

    Sheesh.

Better get out my recipe for mulled wine, I'll be needing it before December .
