That sounds just miserable. I'm sorry that you had to endure that--but I guess I also feel that we are lucky to live in a time of modern medicine, and we can live longer and be cured of things that would have put us under (or kept us in bed for life) than 100 years back. Most people are in a great deal of pain by the time they go in for knee/hip/shoulder surgery.
I really hope you will feel better, and that this will be the last of your bone troubles!
