    Hi Everyone,

I have a new article on my site about the Watchtower's claim of the end by 2005. If you're not burned out on this topic yet, check it out. My friend, Cheryl, wrote it.

Read it - I see someone's math pointing out that the youhgest of the generation that saw 1914 would be 70. I see no indication that the WTS is saying this - in fact, I've seen much reference to them letting go of the generation doctrine. So if you want this article to get attention, you might want to let readers know where the WTS is stating 2005, and attach citations. Just my opinion.

Luke 12:40 YOU also, keep ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think likely the Son of man is coming."

Matthew 24:44 On this account YOU too prove yourselves ready, because at an hour that YOU do not think to be it, the Son of man is coming.

I think that rules out 2005.

I once heard from someone that a brother in our area believed, based on his research, that armageddon would come in 2005.

I feel sorry for him, he's going to be dissapointed...

I agree with Blondie's post. The bible flat out says that no one knows the hour. Perhaps there is not even a set time yet.

Any speculation from anyone including the WTS is going against what the bible teaches.

I enjoyed reading the article. I wonder if the WTS is using a little con game mentality to cover themselves. Here's my scenario: Print in one WatchTower an article that can be interpreted this way. Print an article in a brochure that can say somehting a little different. Give public Talks that convey a little different twist again. And repeat this again and again. This way the WTS can deny any misunderstanding by pointing to the article or talk that is most like what happened.

In a betting con, an odds maker will send out 10,000 picks for a sporting event, half with one winner, half with the other. The next week he sends out 5,000 picks to the half he got right. He repeats this con until he has 625 prospects. Then he sends them a note telling them if they want his next pick to send him $200. After all, he has been right four times in a row!

If the Tower wants to con people, just sprinkle slightly differently worded prophetic interpretations of events and point to the one that was least wrong. Maverick

You have got to be kidding me. Didn't masses of people leave after they made all those false predictions years ago? You would think they would've learned their lesson by now.

Besides, the Bible explicitly states that not even Jesus knows when the end is coming, so how can the human race have any inkling?

As I have said before, there are many in my former congregation that belive 2005 is a possibility. Their reason is you take 1975 and add 30 years to it. Where do they get the 30 years? Jesus was 30 when he began his preaching. King David was 30 when he took the throne. Adam was believed to be 30 when he was given Eve, based on Jewish tradition.

Personally, I hope many Jehovah's Witnesses buy into this. Perhaps it will speed up the Watchtower's demise.

It's thing like this that reassure me that I made the right decision to bail out. I can't believe I fell for this nonsense a couple of years ago.
