I'm not particularly a musical person but I do appreciate good scores in film.

Actually, I love the classical's too because they were the movie music of their time. They accompanied plays. Like Debussy. Any music that can invoke images and stir emotions is what I like. There are too many of them for me to pick a favorite.
@Morpheus - posting 'John Williams' is great, he's probably the best composer of film music of all time.
Jaws, Star Wars franchise,Jurassic Park and much more.
But there are also other film scores by other composers.
Who can forget Brad Fiedel's contribution to Fright Night (1985)?
I'll never forget this piece of music. It's where Charley Brewster looks at his neighbour's window and first discovers that the guy next door has fangs.
Love Hans Zimmer's score for Gladiator, particularly Earth

I've always really loved Elmer Bernstein's score for To Kill a Mockingbird.
A very different, but also amazing score is the one he composed for The Magnificent Seven.
I'm also a big fan of Jerry Goldsmith's percussive style of writing, particular for film like Planet of the Apes.
And of course pretty much anything John Williams does is fantastic. I was recently listening to his work on Hook. Really great writing!
John Williams, Empire of the Sun. Hands down the greatest.
