    G'day all,

Well, we're a bit early this weekend, but the weekend is already in full swing downunder and, besides, I thought we should go to air to take our minds off other things!

So, what are you doing this weekend? Mrs Ozzie and I are going to join our Navy friends for a dip and a sauna, followed by a bbq, washed down with............................Tiger beer!!!!! That surprises ya, eh? But it's the perfect drop for hot times, very refreshing.

Now, what shall we reminisce about this weekend? Well, "the Writing Department" are following up on Room215's thread "JWs in The Workplace: What Type Were/Are You?" with this question.........

Do you avoid doing business with a dub? (Why?)

    1. Yes

    2. No

That's easy, ain't it.....oh well, feel free to comment too!!!

We're looking forward to reading your responses.

    Enjoy.

    Cheers, Ozzie

    2. No

If I knew a dub owned a certain buisness, and I needed something from them, I would pick them especially if I knew them. I like having an excuse to talk to them when I can as they are STILL my friends. I can think of very few I disliked.

    Oh, YES YES YES!!!

    Here is both sides....

They want too much for free... cheapskates is how I thought of them... I would go out of my way to not do business with them on any level!

One "brother" did some snow removal from rooftops one winter... well, you gotta get rid of the snow that comes off the roof... so he did, SCRATCHING THE CRAP OUT OF HIS DECK!

Understandably pissed off, the homeowner (brother) complained to him. He thought that it was unfair for the 'brother' to complain about it... I mean, give me a break.

They have no concept of business, the ones that I dealt with.

On very rare occasions and only if they have a good reputation outside the organization (I check them out just like a non-JW business).

I never do business because they are a JW only if they are a good business person.

Several dubs have applied for jobs where I work. There have been times when I've had to screen the applicants and make recommendations to my boss. Only one so far has managed to get past me to the final interview. She was very experienced and did not make silly requests like wanting time off on Wed. morning for FS. Everybody is very happy with her work and she does not witness. I hope she sticks around.

    Well alrighty then!

I need to clarify something in a big way. I must agree with some here........many dubs are not good buisness men/women, as their religion is reflected in their buisness attitude, and that can be a bit shallow.

I meant a store owner would be no problem for me in which a simple product was purchased, or a massage, or something of that nature. If it was a SERVICE, I would have to know them well. If I did know a dub who was skilled at his/her work and I knew it, and I like him/her, .......I still would have no problem picking them.

I guess I'm too damn nice.

Yeah it doesn't bother me either way,

BTW I haven't tried Tiger beer Ozzie, I will have to look out for it.

    Cheers

    Good question, Ozzie.

For now I would have to say NO only because the hurt is still there for them having thrown us out and are shunning us. I lost many good friends. It takes time to heal and get on with one's life, so eventually, I hope to say "it would depend on their business reputation". But unfortunately, most JW's I know have a bad reputation. They think they are so spppeecccial that true qualities of good business people are just lacking.

hope you enjoy your dip & sauna and Tiger's beer.

Occasionally my husband and sons (drywall contractors) are thrown together with a JW contractor who doesn't know them. They don't reveal their past and get along okay. I am sure we would avoid it though if given a choice. Last year, we had a customer call for the guys to work on her house, and she recognized Dave's name. She made it very clear she would NOT do business with us. I laughed and told her I understood, but that none of the men are disfellowshipped, so she can do business with us. She declined and hung up.

Thx guys....and gals! D'ya think a kind of 'reverse shunning' takes place? Or doesn't it matter?

Or would you be shocked if a dub did business with you?

These are all thoughts that come to mind on this one.
