I meant say something in my last post and I forgot.

I was a witness since birth, though for a short time my dad made us stop. During my life as a witness I can Honestly say I don't think dub men treated their women any worse than other families. I have known many who treated their wives very loving, and I have known MANY witness wives who ruled the house! Lots of them!

I think husbands who treat their wives in a demeaning way, are weak in that area anyway and they try and use the scriptures( to their liking) in that area when it's convienient. The bible definately puts many stipulations on women..........but not in the way many men define it.

While trying not to paint the jw man with a broad stroke, it seems you hit a point, where being dominent is a sign of weakness, in that allowing the org to think for and give strict guidelines in how women should be treated.

A jw woman can rule the house agreed, but that rule stops at the house and will never seep into the "the good ole boys" at the Hall.

Interesting, because a MORMON leader once said that women were the doormats by which men have to walk on(something like that)when they came through the door

    JamesT:

    James:

More and more it is becoming clear that being a Jehovah's Witnesses, is to be one of the most psychologically and spiritually abused people alive. The pressure is intense and nonstop, far worse than any other main stream Christian organization I know of.

These poor folks are cracking at the seams. It's unwise to expect them to act happy, normal or sane. They need our understanding and compassion.

I feel little anger towards them anymore. It's more like I just want to walk up and hug them.

You?re right on the money with your first two paragraphs. As for your third, I hope to get there one day!

That?s so true. Now that I am emerging from the WTS suffocating cocoon and getting to know worldly normal people, I am struck by how many things there are to talk about. I was invited out to supper by one of my friends here at work and we talked and laughed all evening about all kinds of things, and no gossiping; the world is at your fingertips when you throw off the Watchtower blinders and there are millions of things to share and to learn about. JWs have nothing beyond their small worlds so gossip fills up the empty spaces.

Admittedly, I don't have a very broad frame of reference, but are these just jw traits? Or are they more universally male traits, intensified by the WBTS free-rein policy? I'm not anti-male by any stretch, but they do seem to lean toward a more dominant personality type.

I've known some misogynistic jw men, and I've known some sensitive new-age types, so I really wonder what the real truth is. Any men out there want to weigh in?

Gumby, just my observation, but...the women have a bum deal in the WTS. Theocratic Ministry School? They have a different "public speaking" exam! A JW woman would never be allowed to preach to the congregation, no matter how capable she may be. Women are COMPLETELY left out of the formal power structure. Even though women carry the burden of child-rearing, their obligations to service are not correspondingly reduced during their child bearing years.

I can see why there could be many bitter, gossipy women at the KH under such a system. And, yes, a frustrated woman might compensate for that lack of control by ruling the roost with an iron fist.

Just to get the facts straight. The woman in this world is and always has been the main foundation of our society. Unfortunately, their role has been classed as something lowered to that of a worm. This has come about mainly by the women themselves and a little help from you know who. (JW) I believe that in a marrage two people are required to raise a family and the welfare of the children is paramount.

If the witness's were really Christian, people would see it easly there would be no second guess's there would not be a break of of familys. To break up a family is counter productive from a human point of veiw and it should be from a Godly point of veiw. If God really aproves brakeing familys up as the witness's do so well, then he is not worthy of worship.

jgnat touches on a point here that I had wondered about. I had seen a good number of very assertive women among married jws, and though personality plays a role, I had wondered if these women were simply trying to find a way to gain some measure of control in at least one area of life.

Hi elderwho, It's impossible to give what you don't possess. The r&f are not permitted to have Christ in them or belong to Him. They may profess Christ but do not possess Him. How can we expect them to show His love from within if they are empty?
