I think we probably have trouble with criticism due to being spoon feed what to believe as a dub. Someone I talked to at the door once out in service even noted that we seem to avoid any honest debate.

I have met someone in my life recently that is critical of EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY.

I only HAVE to be around her a couple times a week.. but I try to avoid her..

What a negative, critical person she is ... and she tries to get everybody thinking like her..

What a downer type of person..

Perhaps the freedom of Democracy allows this. In that we are able to actually explore new ideas, believe in different thinking and accept what seems unacceptable to others. Yet, much like history, much of what mankind accepts, can be proven wrong in science. I kind of look at life and our beliefs as a large cosmic, "king of the hill." Everyone wants to be the one who is right, and feels that everyone else is wrong. So in many ways they are pushing each other off and leaving the top position empty, and without any possibility of occupancy.

So perhaps the greatest gift that Democracy and religious freedom have given us, is the idea that we can not just push our beliefs upon others and not expect the same in return to be done to us. Which to me, causes the human race to reach for and grow into something better. The fear and control that kept mankind from growing mentally in the past, are now gone with the freedom to admit your wrong and be shown you are wrong by others. Perhaps superstition is finally on it's last life.

Who knows, maybe all this mess of people proving religion wrong, and religion trying to prove science wrong, will collide in growth as a species into something that is actually right for a change.

I want to criticize your assertion, but I think that very criticism would end up being used to support your idea.

Joanna... but think about the tremendous number of people who actually waste air by their very breathing! And think of all the air that is polluted... not good to breathe at all. And of course, there's all the carbon-dioxide we emit when we breathe... if there were enough people on earth, we could create a greenhouse effect, merely from our own breathing!

You may think that is air is good, but have you thought of that?

Criticism is unavoidable. Whether it is science, politics, health, morality, art -- there will be detractors.

Unless, of course, you are a JW ... then, criticizing the GB or the Almighty Organization is off limits.
