How are full-time JW volunteers to prepare for elderly retirement??? They cannot.

    Don't be a JW apologist dip$hit!

Yes, since the summer of 1973 there have been new peaks in pioneers every month. Now there are 20,394 regular and special pioneers in the United States, an all-time peak. That is 5,190 more than there were in February 1973! A 34-percent increase! Does that not warm our hearts?

Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world’s end.—1 John 2:17.

Right, and somehow bad financial planning non-JWs somehow barely squeak out a survival, too.

However, JWs delusionally attribute their basic survival as a blessing for having sought first the kingdom of WT.

And, just as I was saying earlier,,,,the Borg has been spewing this ''last days''', ''end of the world'' , ''Armageddon'' manipulative propaganda for over a century now.

That way the sheeple can be totally manipulated to believe that ''last days'' bull $hit and forget to prepare themselves.

For the Borg to say to ''prepare for retirement'' or prepare for 'Golden Years',,,,would totallly contradict and undermine the Borg's narrative to keep the sheeple on the edge of their seats expecting the big 'A' any day, or year.

No. There is no possible freaking way the Borg would POSSIBLY ever tell it's followers to prepare for retirement. It's totally against the Borg's motives.

As Kim recently said, 'Armageddon' is NOT coming,,,,to save your behind, or anyone's.

If that is your idea of "very well taken care of"... it sounds pathetic. Mediocre at best.

We've all seen the life of JW special pioneers..... it is nothing special.

    MIKEJW:

You're in the UK, right? When you say special pioneers get an ‘old age state pension’, is this even if they did NOT work?? Am I not understanding you correctly? Please clarify.

If this were right, that’s news to me!!!

Here in the USA, somebody absolutely needs to work in order to get Social Security and even then they have to work full-time for several decades in order to get a decent monthly amount! ..A lot of Witnesses have spotty work records with part-time jobs so they could be in the ministry. Many wouldn’t be caught dead in a full-time job. When the time comes later - they find out much to their disappointment they won’t get much from SS (like $800).

It’s too bad somebody wise (non-JW) didn’t inform them of these life facts when they were younger!

    @LHG

here in the UK we have a safety net provision called pension credit. It is a means tested benefit for those of retirement age who dont--for whatever reason--qualify for the full or part state pension. So its ideal for pioneers who have never earned enough to qualify for their state pension.

It is quite generous--more so for a couple. it is also a gateway benefit--meaning housing benefit for those who rent rather than own. There are other top up benefits for those with qualifying health issues. It doesnt take too much effort for a retired couple to get £20,000 a year in benefits. Which is probably more than they have ever earned in their lives.

If anyone is worried about their retirement you may want to checkout this previous topic:

    Retirement Planning for ex-JWs

The key thing to remember is that many people haven't planned well or saved as much as they maybe should have, so you're likely not as far behind as you imagine.

Also, the pension industry wants your money, so they don't tell you that you might not need as much as some of the calculators predict - they tend to tell you the total amount you might need, forgetting to account for the fact that some of that may very well come from state pensions etc..., and you "only" have to cover the shortfall (or just plan on a more frugal lifestyle).

Retirement planning, like general investing, is like planting a tree - the best time to start was 20 years ago, the 2nd best time to start is today.

But ignore the P2P lending mentioned in that other topic - that kind of imploded with the Covid outbreak. It's important to keep up with what's happening with where you put your money - if there is a whiff of trouble, move it. Don't be the first one in and the last one out - preserving capital is more important than the promised returns (although "some" amount of risk is usually good to include)
