I had a quick look for the original posting where Cofty apparently responded with "BOLLOCKS". Couldn't find it.
I don't think "the opposite of knowledge is love" is much of a statement. Perhaps it had to be read in context. But if someone who just responds with "BOLLOCKS", well that is just pathetic.

The Rebel (A) ..........I think the " BOLLOCKS" comments are brilliant, I would even go so far to say.......funny.
Cofty is a brilliant poster, and whilst I don't always ( in fact rarely) agree with what he says, I think his use of the phrase " Bollocks" is often used without exaggeration, and entirely justified.....however the O.P of this thread was really about why everybody gets so offended about nothing these days?

Actually, bollocks means testicles.
As a slang, which is the way cofty uses it, means nonsense (I'd use bullshit myself but nonsense suffices).

Usually I respond to posts I want to comment on with thoughtful replies based on evidence and reason.
Occasionally an assertion appears on the forum that is so egregious that it really doesn't deserve the time and energy to refute it. At those times "Bollocks" is the appropriate response. I suspect 4 or 5 people have been granted a bollocks to date.
The post The Rebel is referring to was one such occasion.
Knowledge is not the opposite of love.
For example hatred, bigotry and xenophobia thrive on ignorance. Once people felt justified in hating black people because of ignorance about the origin of human race. Bigots still discriminate against gay people because they hold factually incorrect opinions.
Islamic extremists have murdered countless thousands because they believe ridiculous things to be true. Knowledge is our greatest weapon in our quest to build a better world. Knowledge about scientific facts will continue to cure people of disease and feed the hungry.
Knowledge - truth - objective facts about reality really matter.

In that case Cofty, I now feel confident I can proclaim myself on this forum as " the worlds greatest lover" in the knowledge that my comment is so egregious nobody will be bothered to refute it.
