Different, but perhaps better than planned

Absolutely fabulous!!! You rule, you should be Pope. I know that most r/f dubs have no idea that Jesus is not their mediator according to the WTS. This was a fantastic help for your neighbor, because ifnothing else she will never forget the stuff you asked her to research. Just continue in your neighborly ways... Gosh its almost like you are the good Samaritan helping the broken person to get well.

It's like I can breathe fresh clean air when I hear a story like this one.

There is nothing more difficult than "getting through" to a jw. You have a gift Bebu!

You are communicating with this person in a brilliant, and peaceful way. That is, you are

balancing the cold hard facts with compassion and dignity, a must in a situation such as this.

    Keep us updated, wont you?

It dawns on me that when she has looked and found that I'm not just making up stories, that she will now have to figure out how to tell me that the Bible clearly states that Jesus is the mediator of only the 144,000... while just the other day she was telling me the Bible clearly states that Jesus is the ONLY mediator!

In other words, this whole scenario is proving my point to her, that it's ONLY THE ADDITION OF THE FDS which makes the difference!! The Bible WAS clear... until the FDS muddies the water!! And now, do you believe what the Bible clearly says, or do you believe whatever is called food from the FDS?

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the next meeting, but I do think it will be fine. I think it's important to help her see that I'm not attacking HER, but trying to get to the bottom of the WTS's GB, and their pivotal claim to being the FDS.

    I can be very patient...

    Your discussion was excellent.

It always upsets me to read about nonsensical discussions concerning what Jesus

said about a "faithful and discreet slave". They take a simple scripture and twist it

into such a mess that few can look at it objectively .

    It's so easy!

Jesus wanted his followers to be faithful.

If they were faithful - and not foolish - he would appoint them to run things.

I feel like asking any elder in charge, "OK, are you unfaithful? Are you a fool?

Then, you are supposed to be a "faithful and discreet slave" of Christ".

The Society has perverted this simple truth into a "title of nobility"

that gives them a Divine Right to do anything they want.

Thanks for keeping us posted on this interesting experience. The fact that she is still talking to you and coming over for a visit shows that she interested. This can only mean that she is entertaining some doubts on her own.

I think your approach about letting her do some research on these subjects and showing some interest in what she finds is the right way to go. She won't feel that you are trying to argue with her but are merely interested in her search.

    Keep up the good work.

I remember when they said that jesus was only the mediator for the 144,000, but i just could not grasp it and since we still prayed "in jesus name" i just didn't understand. So i chose to ignore it. I was afraid to question them on it. Could someone tell me , how do they explain that? How do they explain we still pray in the same manner? if jesus is not our mediator, who is? Or are they saying, we cannot approach God?

I also havd a problem with the 144000 thing. The problem with JW theology is that the bible is written for the 144000 allmost exclusively so why even bother to read it if youre not of that group. Barry

(Sexual abuse is an issue that concerns her; she has a lot of compassion. However, she's still held by the WT "slander" defense..)

She can write me if she wants, my brother is suing them for this, & I KNOW IT"S THE TRUTH!!!! But I'd go easy on her.

What Wednesday said... I would like to know the answer to this too. Where is Blondie when you need her? Also, I had been a JW all my life until 3 years ago and I thought Jesus was my mediator, only in the last three years did I learn different by JW teaching. I bet many of the average JWs still don't understand that Jesus is only the mediator for the 144,000. So why do the JWs pray saying ...in Jesus' name, Amen?

Wednesday, you asked some very good questions, and you can be sure that I will be asking them of her the next time I see her. She told me specifically that Jesus is her (JW's) mediator, as they always prayed in Jesus' name.

I have a feeling Blondie wouldn't be able to explain any satisfactory answer...

And yes, Barry, for all the billions of people that have lived and died, it's rather absurd to think that the Bible was only written for a handful afterall.

Matt 24:5 says, "For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many."

"Christ" means annointed... And the GB is saying, "We are the annointed (Christ)", and deceiving many.
