Blimey. 007 has lost some weight.

Bluesy - I was thinking just how differently I read this stuff today than I did as a young man. Those of us brought up within it know that on Tuesday nights we were fed a diet of the Babylon Book, The Finished Mystery Book , The Revelation Book .

Oh, my word. How I remember those awful Tuesday book studies. Such depressing times. when my friends at school were watching Doomwatch and other delights, I was sat with some weird people agreeing with mentally retarded views. Similar to......

Satan instigated an attack on the anointed brothers who were taking the lead in the Kingdom-preaching work.

What a load of self important Sheiße!!

Looks like they still identify the "8th king" as the United Nations, but....

It barely gets a mention. 3 articles, 60+ paragraphs all about Revelation, and the UN is mention exactly once, almost in passing.

Used to be that the UN was front and center in WTS end-times rambling about the book of Revelation.

Maybe they are working on phasing out that particular interpretation?

It is an accurate interpretation of those Revelation passages based on the events since Revelation was written and the end times.

    Revelation 1:1-3

1 The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.

    Rattigan350:

How do you translate ''must soon take place'' to the year 1919?

How do you translate ''the time is near,'' to what took place in the early 1900's in Jehovah's Witness history?

How does ''two witnesses'' in Revelation 11 turn into eight Jehovah's Witnesses thrown in jail?

Why isn't the book of Revelation about the destruction of Rome?

Why would Jehovah's Witnesses understand what all symbolisms mean? Just like the United States Supreme Court need nine Judges to interpret the Constitution which was written 250 years ago, how can a group of men interpret a book that was written in code almost 2,000 years ago?

The idea that the UN is as dangerous as the WT's eschatology suggests takes some next-level suspension of disbelief (realizing this was one of my little wake-up moments, in fact), but I think they're stuck with it...

...there's no one left with the creative and narrative chops to give the Org's old Cold-War-centric End-Times script an overhaul.

At this point, all they can do is soft-pitch the weirder parts and hope it'll all still (somehow) come true.

The next article is “Revelation, What It Means For Gods Enemies “ Now adjustments to the application come so quickly it is hard to keep up, but this struck me as new .

9 Revelation chapter 13 goes on to tell us that this seventh head, the Anglo-American World Power, also acts as a wild beast with “two horns like a lamb, but it began speaking like a dragon.” This beast “performs great signs, even making fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the sight of mankind.” (Rev. 13:11-15) Revelation chapters 16 and 19 describe this wild beast as “the false prophet.” (Rev. 16:13; 19:20) Daniel mentions something similar, namely, that the Anglo-American World Power would “bring terrible destruction.” (Dan. 8:19, 23, 24, ftn.) That is exactly what happened during World War II. The two atomic bombs that played a decisive role in ending that war in the Pacific were the results of a joint effort by British and American scientists. The Anglo-American World Power, in effect, made “fire come down out of heaven to the earth.”

The last reference in the index to the verse, Rev .13:13 spoke only of the Beast acting like a prophet assuming great authority ( Wt 2009)

So this thought is new to me at least......

LOL on the "atomic bombs = fire from heaven".

Almost as good as those 1920s (?) Golden Age articles tying "Leviathan" from the book of Job to steam-powered locomotives.

But you know, JWs after the WT study will be all "W-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-w.....that's so de-e-e-e-e-e-p".
