Lol!!!
It is all about Mannerisms. When one guy was a new Employee where I worked years ago. I had a very strong feeling that he is a witness, so I asked him what religion he is in, he said JW. I knew it!
Some Witnesses have that arrogance about them. That look, that smirkiness.
A young couple who have been supporting my hedgehog rescue for a few years now I would never have known they were JWs if they hadn't told me last time they visited.
They go to folk festivals to perform their own songs so I would never have guessed.
I certainly didn't tell them I am an an apostate.
if you see 2 people walking very slowly from house to house
or they stand chatting on the doorstep for ages when no-one is home.
My wife and can spot them a mile away. Clean shaven Men and boys wearing outdated suits walking the streets. Women and girls in full dress walking the farmers market or grocery store. Children all dressed up eating at a restaurant with their dressed up parents. And to make it real easy all wearing the Jw.org badge. Lol Still Totally ADD
I'm with minimus, some Jehovah's Witnesses do come across as smug. I've had Witnesses sorta smirk at me in discussions when they thought they had the upper hand.
I've also been able to pick them out at a coffee shop or diner by their outfits, in Upstate New York Brothers always seem to be wearing grey pinstripes with colorful shirts and ties (don't know if that's true elsewhere). Then I'd listen in as I was having breakfast with my family and hear them talk about the latest Watchtower or someone going out west to "unassigned territory" and now I'd guessed correctly.
I've never figured out someone was a Jehovah's Witness by what I'm about to say but it's worth mentioning that in my experience no one but Jehovah's Witnesses talk about "Bible books" or use "Bible" as an adjective for that matter ("we learn Bible truths"), other Christians tend to say "books of the Bible" and "biblical truth."
Yes! that jw smirk! can't stand it. Once my child saw 2 people walking down the street and said, "ugh jw's!" I said, "no, those are Mormons" she- "how can you tell the difference?" me- "first of all they are smiling, secondly they always have name tags, white shirts and black suits". The main thing was the Mormons are always smiling.
Then it naturally turned into a conversation about jw's not admitting they are jw's where as Mormon's always are happy to, Mormons gladly show you their name tag in case you missed it, jw's are reluctant to tell you their name and may even ask why you want to know it, Mormons go along in a brisk walk and jw's do the pioneer shuffle, Mormons actually will knock on your door and not pretend to or ring the screw by the doorbell and so on. But not wanting her to join the Mormons had to give her a few details there too.
