I used to be the congregation secretary and you see at first hand how most of the reports are made up.
One one occasion I was away giving a talk at the end of the month & asked a fellow elder to empty the reports box at the end of a Sunday meeting & give it to me. He mislaid the envelope he put the reports in so I had to phone around all the publishers (approx 30 ) who had put their slips in. Half way through the next month he found the envelope & gave it to me - I then cross checked the reports with the phone calls , just out of interest. 25 were different - notably most "phoned" reports had higher figures.
