It is important to remember how we got here: by making Hillarys "emails" and supposed alignment with "the feminists" the main talking point during the campaign while ignoring the obvious flaws in trumps person as well as the ongoing propaganda campaign by Russia.

if there is such a thing as a redeeming consequence for this experiment, is that in 4 years, the pendulum will swing ( i think) completely the other way.
Chances are, many of the idiots that stayed home on voting day will actually take a break from watching the Kardashians or day dreaming about pop culture and will take some time to go out and vote, because this president will have dismantled at least one thing they care about.

My optimistic scenario:
Things will be so mucked up (but not permanently mucked up) that one or both chambers of congress will swing blue in 2018, to mitigate most if not all of the worst damage.
That, and Ginsburg discovering the fountain of youth, or at least the fountain of hang-on-for-4-more-years.

That was the theory when Hitler took power. And I guess the pendulum did swing back to liberal democracy in Germany - 12 years later and tens of millions dead.

I thought the GOP was in disarray when there were 14 candidates that threw their hat into the ring to fight it out for the nomination with no apparent front runner (unless you think Jeb or Mario was such).
Hell, the Democrats don't have 14 people worth mentioning for the next election. In fact, I doubt most people could even name 14 prominent Dems. Their "front runners" (IMO, Biden and Bernie -- either of these guys would have beat Trump) will damn near be 80yo for the next election. Not to mention that the "middle class" feels that they have been abandoned by the Dems and thus they abandoned the party for this election.
